Re: GDT:SDSU vs. Denver
The problem is right there in your first sentence. They can not maintain their revenue, because their entire traditonal newspaper business model has been shot to h-e-double-toothpicks by Internet technologies which not only make every media outlet--newspaper, radio, TV station, etc.--everywhere a competitor to every other one (the BBC is one of the Argus-Leader's competitors, for instance), enable "new media" competitors from Google to Twitter to Craigslist, but also make almost nonexistent any barriers-to-entry of "new-media" competitors--from local bloggers or even prolific local-news Tweeters. If you really wanted to, for instance, you could get a free Wordpress web site and start reporting local news--presto! you're a competitor to the local newspaper.
Their only way to compete in this new environment is to provide more, better information. Thus, Terry Vandrovec is an invaluable resource to the Argus-Leader. I wonder how much of the newspaper's revenue is directly and soley related to TV's SDSU reportage? I would guess that the number is non-trivial.
