Still thinking WNIT...but T.V. is reporting that SDSU has moved up to the "first four out" in ESPN's bracketology.

I'm not going to be shocked if we do end up getting an at-large. If you compare SDSU to the last four in teams there is not that big of a difference. The main thing that hurts us our conference sos but i think our non-conference sos makes up for that. The committee doesn't look at the margin of loss or margin of victory so that shouldn't be an issue. If SDSU would have beat UALR and Creighton they would have been a lock. Wouldn't it be something if both SDSU and USD get into the field.

I think were in the conversation. I'm not sure we deserve an at-large because of our inconsistency during the non conference schedule though.

Conspiracy Theory time: WNIT page lists the automatic qualifiers that lost their conference tournament who are in the WNIT. They list many teams ... EXCEPT SDSU! This was obviously updated recently since Indiana State just lost yesterday. Now, SDSU is for sure in the WNIT, so perhaps they're waiting to see if SDSU makes the big dance. *

Hopefully they know something we don't. If we are in the WNIT , there are not many options for regional games other than Colorado State. But , at-large teams are still to come

Green Bay is also not listed. They are probably waiting to make sure teams that may be on the bubble don't get an invite.

An at-large bid would be the next evolution of SDSU being a mid-major power. Getting into the tournament as an auto qualifier is great, but to be chosen as an at large shows what the "experts" think of the program. If it happened I would put it up very high on my list of impressive things this program has done.

TV's tidbits shows that Jacks should be in the discussion.

I get a bit miffed when a school with a lossing record in their own conference are considered more worthy than a mid-major that plays a challenging OOC. Jacks have played 4 top 25 teams this season, and went 1-3. Worst loss was to about 150th USD. 3-3 vs top 100 teams. 3 losses vs >100 RPI.

I don't think we get an at large. I doubt we've done enough once we've gotten there to justify it. Had we won another game or two instead of being half ways drilled the last four years, I think we'd have a shot.

Summit League doesn't have the resume of a multi-bid conference. That said, AJ stepped up and scheduled some formidable OOC teams. Unfortunately, didn't perform well enough against the mid-majors and lost in the conference tourney semifinal to 150 RPI team. If SDSU gets in someone didn't do their homework.

This season was a big step forward and confirms the path and road map the NCAA as put out there. Schedule challenging teams, play them well, let them play well and beat a bunch of people and watch your RPI rise. Jacks just didn't do enough with rest of the OOC schedule and took that bad loss last Monday. Can't let them in to the dance.

I agree that we should be (barely) on the outside looking in. We would have probably needed one more solid OOC win to get in, but the fact that we are even in the discussion is a good sign. The last game was awful, but a very bright future can start as soon as a few days from now with a WNIT run. After that, we add likely the best player in SD high school history to an already loaded roster and roll on.

IMHO, women would get more value out of playing WNIT than going 1 and done in the NCAA. However, if they do get selected as a last in at-large, that's at the 10 or 11 seed, based on the projections shown. That could actually be a better chance at a W than if they won the Summit in the NCAA.

I'll always accept an at large bid, but part of me wishes that if it does happen this year that we could "pass" and pocket it for somewhere down the road. I just don't think this team is worthy of an at-large. I know it doesn't work this way, but I'd prefer to pocket it for some year when our girls are unstoppable but mysteriously lose in the conference tournament.
