Gabby Boever doesn't get the recognition she deserves because she doesn't score a lot , but the defensive pressure she put on was a big factor in disrupting the Hoya guards. I don't think I have ever seen anyone get their hands in and break up as many dribbles (mens or womens games) as she did tonight. When you factor in the complete offensive and defensive game , she's the best point guard in the Summit.

Gabby was fouled more than once while stealing the ball tonight and it was not called. She is sooooo quick when she knocks the ball loose. She was "tackled" when going for the loose ball more than once. Also, she is solid ball handler on the offensive side of the ball as well. 6 assists and 4 steals is a big line. How many steals will she have at the end of her senior year?

The "highs" and "lows" of sport's fandom. Yes, this team will be near the top of the Summit. It might be a dogfight in Sioux Falls with USD.

I do not think that we can discount several other teams along with the yotes. IUPUI beat the Jacks 2 times last year. IPFW allowed the jacks to get a win late in the game at Ft Wayne last year(and they return POY). WIU has an improved squad with returning Luke as a sophomore. The Jackrabbits have a competitive team for the Summit, but the rest of the conference is trying to catch up quickly with good players. Go Jacks!

I keep my eye on the Summit teams and their new recruits,yes, they get some,but not as consistently and not as many every year that we do.
I also look to see how well Summit teams play against the better teams in OOC play.To me it's a measure of how well they might fare in the League and how much they improve/regress from yr to yr.
Taking into consideration that it's the number one goal of every team in the Summit to de-throne the Jacks,every team must not be over looked.The way we're playing right now,we're still ahead,but we have to stay vigilant.

I'm going to make a bold assumption,whoever wins the NCAA invite for the conference (hopefully us) must be a good enough team to cruise thru the conference schedule (the caliber of teams as they are now) with 20 point wins,disregarding a couple bad or lazy games,or off shooting games and the opponent playing lights out.....to have a chance at advancing past the first rd.
This team's first rd opponant,whoever they are,surely would be able to.Otherwise,it's just hoping we can have a one time super game agaist a team we're over matched with.

So, our goal shouldn't be to eek out wins ,it should be to dominate like the 2008-2009 team did.It's nice to go to the NCAA tournament,but it'd be nicer if we could get past the first round again.
We don't want to build up a high level of play,only to revert back to a level of play that isn't dominating in the Summit.The level of play should be refined, honed, maintained at the best we are capable of through out the season.We do that,we might do as Dayton,UWGB,Gonzaga,Marist,etc...all mid-majors.... have done,oh and us too (once)They all have dominated their conferences,and have got past the first rd.

It will be the mark for this team to throttle the Summit competition. 2008-09 team had many large margins of victory and Jennifer Warkentein(sp) may have led the league in points per game while playing 22+ minutes per game. The Jackrabbits had a deep bench playing that year. Last night appeared to have a 20 point victory until the Hoyas decided to make a game of it the last 10 minutes. It was an encouraging situation to see the women play solid to the end.

I know what you are saying, but I don't think our margin of victory in Summit games will matter too much when (when) we get seeded for the NCAA's. It's this set of OOC games that the committee will weigh heavily. Sadly our losses to BYU and Creighton have already made a mark. We'll need a couple upsets to offset those if a decent seed (and a more site-neutral matchup) is to be had.

The margin of victory in the Summit may be important in the view that everyone is playing at a higher level and maintaining a sharp edge for the entire team. If you can play an up tempo game, the 9 and 10 players need to be able bring something to the table.

I thought the crowd was disappointing. The students did not show up and the general audience was missing, SDSU played Georgetown, the placed should have been packed.

good confidence building game for the ladies. build a lead lose it, get a big shot to spark another run and lose the lead again but then come through again and hold on with some big shots. looked really improved over the first two games. but they could use a 6'5" er or taller sometime.

This is where we talk seating and income and students take it in the shorts. We still need a better place for students that will show up for the games plus provide more seats for reserved sales. The elevated bleachers are unusual compared to most student seating. You could take one end and provide adequate seating for students by going to floor level. If the students were interested, the Thursday game against Montana would have FILLED both ends. The U of M has student seating or bleachers are on one end and that campus is much larger.

If I were still a student, I'd be furious being put on the ends and would have to think really hard about going. There is absolutely no worse place to watch a basketball game than on the baseline, except for second level baseline. Montana used to have a raucous student section on the sidelines until a few years ago when they moved them to the baseline, and now the students are only rowdy during conference tournament games and maybe MSU and Weber. I think SDSU made a huge mistake as far as atmosphere and student interest when they split the student section, shrank it, elevated it away from the court, and put it in the second worse spot in the building. And I know that this has been discussed a lot over the past couple of years and my opinion won't change anything.

On the other hand, the students that have shown up have brought a lot of energy to the crowd.

Thursday night Tyler M. Noted on the radio that he thought the change in student seating IMPROVED the atmosphere. I could not argue, based on the games I went to last year. Granted, those were some of the bigger games. Do you really think more students would have been there for the Georgetown game if they could sit on the side?
