    Re: Mid-Major Top 25 Women

Women go from #20 to #17. There is movement.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

Whoops there is a home loss- we slide to #18. It may have been worse, but we get the benefit of the doubt until the yotes get to town.

I should have said until we get down there. It goes to prove I do not review my notes very well.

SDSU women jump to #13 from #19 this week. They should hold their ground again this week with 2 home games.

Whoops! The women win 2 games and slide to #15. Take care of IUPUI and maybe we will see a bit of rebound?

They haven't played very stellar basketball lately, the voters can see when a team is playing poorly, and they vote accordingly. This poll won't impress any of our opponeants during the tournament,we have to be ready to go against everyone in the league, who are all tired of seeing SDSU win all the time.Time to toughen up for the Tournament. It's tough to remain at the top year after year, but I'm proud of the womens team for being "tough enough" year after year.

What's really sad, imho, is that this is likely the best SDSU team since the 2009 team. The pieces are there to really blow any Summit team off the court. Do need to hit 3's though to make that happen. Like these ladies have demonstrated vs. NE, Georgetown, MTSU, even in the loss to Penn St, they can be a team to contend for a Sweet 16. Key is to avoid going to someone's home court in the 1st game. Need to bear down and win the Summit League regular season, then the Tourney.

What happened to THAT team? There was a stretch in late December/early January where I thought that this team was going to easily cruise through the Summit and might end up with an 10/11 seed. Yes, they have lost only two games, but they also barely survived games with IPFW and UMKC.

I'm hopefull that a home crowd and veteran experience will get this team through the tournament, but I sure don't feel certain about it. I guess that will make it much more fun if they do win.

Maybe it's just me,but i think the team has regressed ,not because of desire or ability,or will to win,but because of the officiating in the Summit. Not a cop out, as it affects evry team in the league. It's just hard to play with any consistency in the Summit. The officiating went from "too many whistles" to WWWF ACTION during the games.Summit officials have to learn that they set parameters for play, they control the game, and they should do so for the entire game from start to finish. It seems to me, right now, they allow too many fouls , and then get reactionary to try to re-gain control.Just my thoughts

The main reason this team can be great one game and then have trouble with teams they should easily handle IMO is inconsistency from their big scorers. Eide and Waytashek (especially Eide) can go off for 30 one night and then have a few games where they have trouble breaking double figures. Add in a couple starters that normally don't score a lot, and one or both of the big two having an off shooting night means the team will have trouble scoring. When a team like the Jacks that depends on putting up a lot of threes goes 1 for 17, teams that you should be beating find it much easier to stay close.
