This may be a year in which we do not have a standout player but when it comes time for the Summit Tourney and post-season play, this balanced squad may go down as one of the, or perhaps THE, best ever. It was fun to watch them go to work.
I agree that Clarin is athletic and more in control. She goes hard to the boards but needs to know when to pull up or she'll be in foul trouble when she's playing against the better posts. Has to finish better when in the paint! Lingle has had some similiar issues. But Clarin and Megan S. have both improved from last year. They are not pressing and allowing the game to come to them. Megan Stuart thought she had to score everytime she touched the ball last year and made some bad decisions. She is playing much better team ball. All three of the posts in Lingle/Clarin and Sturart hit the boards well and they can all score. So if one gets in foul trouble-we have back-up.

Was also nice to see Gabby hit some 3's as our team has struggled "at home" with hitting from behind the arc. I know that Ashley, Megan W and Walters can hit them... just has been a slower start.

Our next game will be a lot tougher. Villanova returns their top 5 (in minutes) from last year and they are a lot more experienced. This will be a good test in our toughness. Bring the fans -- should be fun!

      Re: BHS-exhibition

Saw first half of the Crookston game and three-fourths of the BHS game. As most have already said, I really think this is going a talented deep team. Seems the Jacks are always deep, but this has a different feel to it so far. Both teams we played are not good teams to gauge anything by, but you can see potential there for something special. Lots of talk about the post players with four good options in Lingle, Dietel, Clarin, Stuart. Checking the stats and through two games Dietel has 18 points 10 rebounds, Clarin 17 and 15, Lingle 15 and 11, and Stuart 10 and 13. Clarin has an explosiveness to her game. A bit off balanced at times, but she will get more and more under control as the year goes on. She can get down court in a hurry. Dietel has been solid in her career and appears more confident on offense so far which is great. Lingle will have many games where she will be a huge factor. And Stuart has definitely taken steps forward.
Our backcourt seems to be deep as well. It's good to see Waytashek running around healthy. You can definitely see that she will be a tough matchup for opponents. Eide continues to impresss. Wondered if she would be more of a three point threat this year and her 2of4 shooting last night showed she just might be. Heiser is a great option coming off the bench as she just seems to make things happen. Her two 3's last night were smooth. Gabby and Chloe at the point might be a nice combination. Gabby looks really really good.

There might be some bumps in the road early on with that tough schedule, but we'll be just fine in March.

Agree -- the bumps may hurt a little bit but with this young, smart, talented group of women I have a feeling they will learn fast. Gabby has been great in the 2 exhib. and I love the way she has progressed since her injury. If Megan W continues to improve as she gets a few more games under her belt - watch out. The senior leadership on and off the court is key in developing the younger players. Looks like it could be fun season -- again!

Not ideal, but it is what it is.
i also tried a number of stations on the computer and my smartphone. had no luck. not sure i hit everyone, but, enough to be totally frustrated.

Try going to Brookings Radio and finding 93.7 site within that location for a live feed on the internet.http://www.brookingsradio.com/

In the past the live feeds have been blocked over the internet, because SDSU won't allow you to pick it up without paying for it.

blocking internet access to internet feeds from stations that do the Jacks game benefits the Jacks by having you get a subscription to GoJacks.com if you want to listen or watch. why let them do the internet feed and let everyone listen for free, why have GoJacks subscription service then. Also Hannah was in street clothes because she was sick according to TV and AJ.

We need something like a big ten network, where certain games are picked up and televised, and of course subscription services. We're getting a little bit more National exposure, but the Summit can do better.Think big,be bold, go Summit!

The trade off of limiting exposure by not allowing online live coverage of games to making a few bucks selling subscriptions may or may not be a smart one in the long run.Being a small little community of athletics teams no one ever see's or hears about is not an ideal way to grow a conferences name recognition and therfore it's prestige. But,who's to say we ever will, until the teams can attract the type of recruits who like exposure and, being the athletes they are,who in turn draw a lot of media attention.
I consider AJ as a far sighted coach who looks at things with far reaching goals in mind. That's why we play tough teams, exposure. When we start regularly knocking off some highly touted teams, then the strategy pays off big time.
I think teams like Wisc Green bay, marist, mid tenn st,Gonzaga,The jackrabbits, and others too have all figured it out. We'll get there,it's just a long, arduous journey, and the more exposesure we get ,the easier it will be.
Don't let the quest for a few measly dollars get in the way.Of course, I don't have the responsibility of making an athletic budget stretch as far as it can either, so i can see that maybe it has to be the way it is,out of necessity.JMO

For the time being you will need to consider the expense as the gas it takes to get to the game. It is too bad that the FM network that carries the women games is not more inclusive for South Dakota. The original intent with the radio deal was to reach residents in the state. If the mirror schedule remains, there ought to be another deal evolve.

Didn't they turn everything over to Leerfield (sp) for xxx amt. of $ for a certain time period?Maybe that deal took away some of the decision making for the school (or maybe all of it).Big sports and big sports management is all about legal agreements and such I suppose.

does the athletic dept release figures on how much money is generated on these "subscriptions"? i admit, i don't know that much about the situation.

I'm not aware of figures for that particular portion of the athletic budget.I'm sure it's a significant amount of money that helps pay for some of the bills.Like i said,it's a trade off, you lose exposure, possibly drawing in more intrested fans spending dollars but you gain a gauranteed amount by restricting access and giving people no other alternative other than subscribe.I'm sure they choose the best way to go.I wish i would have taken a few business courses to maybe enhance my knowlege and understanding of things of a financial nature.

unfortunately, "subscriptions" have become like taxes---they are everywhere you turn (with all the new tech).
