    ORU Coming to Town

Huge game Monday night. Expect Oral Roberts and Kevi Luper will come into Frost ready to battle to keep any hopes alive for a conference title. The league-leading Jackrabbits are 16-7 for the season, 11-1 in the Summit, the only conference loss courtesy of ORU at the Mabee Center in Tulsa.

ORU, 15-8 overall, 9-3 Summit, is fresh from an 84-75 win at NDSU in which Luper scored 41 points to become the all-time league scoring recordholder. She has 2,120 career points. And she's just a junior. The 41-point effort set a Bison Sports Arena record for most game points by an opponent.

The Jackrabbits are playing well at home and should be favored to avenge the January 7, 71 to 65 loss in Tulsa. In that game, Jordan Pyle led ORU with 17 points. ORU fought back from a double-digit deficit to pull out the win.

ORU has the advantage in the series, 6-5. ORU has won the last three meetings and is trying to win its third-straight regular-season title.

Here's the story on the game on the official ORU website about the game:

Great game. Weather should be good for anyone within a reasonable distance to make the trip to Brookings to see the league's #2 program led by one of the best female players in the country, try to beat #1 at home.

My prediction: our defense puts a lid on Luper again and our bench strength keeps fresh feet in the game, a real advantage over the Golden Eagles far from home. SDSU 78, ORU 68.

    Re: ORU Coming to Town

Since ORU won the first meeting this year, even though we lead by two games,if we lose again to ORU,and we lose any of the remaining conference games left on the schedule,we would lose the tie breaker (the first used is head to head games, i believe) which would again give the title to ORU.This is a huge game and everyone who can possibly make it should go to the game and support the Jacks.A win tomorrow would greatly enhance our chances of winning the SL conference championship,.....Go Jacks!

The Jacks need to control the pace of the game, and keep it from turning into a track meet. The lower the score, the better the chances are that the Jacks come out on top. I don't think ORU is very deep inside,so I would like to see Sunnarborg and Lingle play more minutes together, and pound it inside.

jacks should be able to put some points up on oru. hoping jacks have a good game on both sides of the ball. i'm expecting a close game.
think jacks will stretch it out a bit at the very end with free throws. a jack single digit win.

big game---hope the MANY fans are loud!!!

          Re: ORU Coming to Town

BigTicket has this one tagged. The more this is a defensive battle, the more likely Jacks are to win. Avoiding the turnovers, and especially steals of passes by Luper will be key. Luper is an even better edition of Nate. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Jaci Bigham is not the super counterpart she was pre-ACL/Knee injury of last season.

This is a VERY good team, after the Jacks probably the best (tho the Yotes and Roos aren't shabby, either) in the Summit. Jacks control the pace, play their combo of transition and half-court game, and drop the open 3's thru the net, Jacks win. Key is to keep Luper off-balance and forcing shots, Jacks will win. Should be a great, tight game, and Jacks need to build a 10 pt lead by 10 min left to fight off Luper and Co.

What's the record for turn overs in a game? I feel we might get close tonight. We gotta be down 5 atleast in the rebounding margin too.

Refs starting to notice the constant ORU slapping and reaching in...Jill has the range on threes now.

Oru plays really physical. Almost like hockey thugs.

Quality of the opponent merits a crowd three times the size we have. Half: SDSU 29 ORU 26. We have 14 turnovers to their 6. Thats our fault but give ORU some credit for causing some. They are a step quicker than any other opponents in Frost this season.
