Another turnover by Jacks, that's 23.
you know, typically if you can hold a team to 53 points, you are going to win. Our offense is just struggling.

this team seems to consistently have more Turnovers than FG's. That ain't right.

Sunnaborg is not playing well. She is the one that needs to step up and lead this team.

      57 to 47.

Another ugly night for Sunny. Just fouled out with only four points!
When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

Yes, this a very good defensive team, but the offense is dysfunctional.

IIRC we are about where we were last year at this time. Although last year it seems it was because of injuries.

Listening to AJ's comment there is a frustration that the posts aren't performing adequately, and that after NEB, there could be shake-up in starters/bench. Stated that Jacks are good enough to win those games, but sloppy passing killed Jacks chances.

                  If you can't score,you can't win,simple as that.

Could not watch the game, but looking at the box score Sunnarborg,Lingle and Dietel played over 60 combined minutes and only took 9 shots between them ? Were they not getting the ball because of the defense,or were the guards just not getting them the ball ? The other stat that jumped out was that Young and Paluch took 45 % of the total shots, and neither one shot a free throw.

                      Re: Marquette GDT

This team has become completely one-dimensional on offense. There is huge pressure on the outside shooters because there is absolutely zero slash-and-score threat (see Young and Paulch's lack of free throws). Making things much, much worse is the new problem that seems to be getting worse by the game: lack of any inside scoring threat. You need to have at least 2 of those 3 attributes to be consistent. If you are the opposing team, would you put much effort into defending anything but the outside shot?

It goes both ways in my opinion, and we could ask the same question but reverse the inside and outside. We haven't been able to put together many games with consistency inside and outside.
Agree with you that slashing to the basket will help - doesn't matter who it is, just someone.

YES! an I alluded to as much, during the QandA in TV's chat before the season with coach AJ. I'm not questioning the results we have had historically(mostly due to some semblance of an inside presence), but at some point in time just passing it around the top of the key is going to fail to be an effective method for scoring. My friend an I have had long discussions about this, we have nobody that is slashing. Macie did it last year MV years before Alison Anderson, and Ketty too. I think this is key and we need to coach it up a bit. Both Eide and Walters have real potential to provide this need.

The 08-09 team had everything discussed so far, inside scoring, outside scoring, lots of scoring off the bench. This team can't get any type of scoring going, period. Is it because they aren't quick enough to get open on the motion offense, the way it's designed to be played?I'll defer to people with more basketball knowlege to answer that. Are we too easy to defend against when the outside shots don't fall......i say yes.

I think Eide needs to play a larger role in the offense. I would almost go so far as to suggest that the ball needs to move through her on a majority of possessions. With Sunny and Lingle struggling, and the other guards needing a bit more setup to penetrate in the half-court, Eide may need to step up, as she's got the size and has demonstrated an ability to drive from the perimeter, as well as knock down perimeter shots.

Paluch & Young *can* drive from the perimeter, but it seems that neither are comfortable doing so early in a possession, or taking their defender in iso. My sense is that they tend to establish themselves on the weak side and then dribble drive after a cross-court pass, when the defense has sagged off them to better help a strong side drive.

Something i'd like to see them practice and develop is a nice touch pass from Sunny to Lingle or someone else cutting to the hoop. That might catch them off gaurd.Something quick, instead of the usual slow and methodical.
