Dietel showed some physicality inside with a bunch of rebounds. She gets after it. JimmyJack hit the nail on the head with Strop. She moves pretty well, and has pretty long arms. Once she gets used to the physical game at this level, she'll be a productive player.
    Will be interesting to see who drops out of the starting line-up when Macie returns. I could see Jill coming of the bench to provide some instant offense - to me,we would be really small at the guards if Macie and Jill both start.

      I would say Young or Edie, Waytashek maybe start over Dietel when she is able to play.

        Agree. Though, they did play All the Small Things by blink-182 at a game last year. I want to say it was Oakland or IUPUI.

            I was at the game last night and I wanted to provide some input that hasn't been included here yet.

            Leah Dietal was impressive last night as well. Mainly, two huge blocks she had. She also seems a step faster this year.

            Overall, we were pretty sloppy as a team but had some nice individual performances.

              Since it was an exhibition, maybe the director didn't want to reveal anything new to the competition quite yet

                People around here do not give Leah Dietel enough credit, if not due to injury last year she would have put up very nice numbers, look how well she played aganist Oklahoma. She is a starter, Jill is a tough call, Eide is everywhere without being noticed. Quality all-around and Rotert will average 18 a game this year.

                My prediction:

                Macie============= Paulch =========Heiser
                Rotert ============Young
                Eide ==============Waytashek
                Dietel =============Schuttloffel
                Sunnarborg =========Strop/Lingle

                  Hang on Sloopy was a golden oldie by the time the 1980's rolled around, It was big in 1965 as I recall. Heard it in every BX from Great Lakes, boot camp and in NTC in Pensacola Fla, A school. Finally stopped hearing it Guam. They were about 5 years behind times.

                  I agree though they should find some better music that would fit the crowd. Some good stuff from broadway would work imo.

                  I missed the game so enjoy reading everyone's take on the game.

                    I agree with your assesment for the most part. Young off the bench is a good fit but I expect to see both her and Rotert on the court together a lot of the time because of their experience and leadership. Rotert can move to a 3 pretty easily and Young can play point also so it won't be hard to make that happen. When you look at your chart, AJ is blessed with a lot of interchangable parts. Shooting gaurds that can post up, post up players that can pop the 3. Sounds like a nightmare for opposing coaches to me.

                      Heiser will work her butt off and is a great defender who can handle the ball. She will challenge Paluch for the 2 deep at point.

                      Young is a great shooter and surprisingly good rebounder. She is a liability on defense and turns the ball over way too much for a shooting guard. That said, she can really light a spark under the team when she starts knocking down shots.

                      In the frontcourt we have a ton of talent and potential Jenni S. and Jennifer S. will need to be leaders with Dietel and Waytashek poised to really have big games/big years. Eide is steady and has a nose for the ball and the hoop.

                      This is going to be a fun team to watch. I'm looking forward to it.

                        Not to be picky, but Waytashek and Eide are not frontcourt players. They are both wings.

                          I am well aware of that and didn't mean to imply that they would fill the same roll as the Jen's. However, both can score on the inside and are going to need to and will provide rebounding help as well. I agree that neither prefers to play with their back to the basket.

                            I know it's early but there are a few things I'm going to watch unfold.
                            1) Who will the PG be? I know that Macie can play there but who else? We have several players that can bring the ball up the court but can they do it quickly with their eyes up the court? There were a couple times when we outran them up the court but the PG didn't see it. Kristen would of had a couple of Maria type layups but the ball didn't get there.
                            2) Who will play down low? We have the 2 Jen's but who else will play down there. Schutt isn't a big scorer but she is great at defense and passing. I don't know what to think of Lingle, yet. I don't think she looked a lot better than last year. She has a scorers mentality. That will be a good thing when she gets the low post moves down. I didn't see enough of Stroup to get a feel for her the other night.
                            3) I was a little worried about scoring but I think that will sort itself out. I think with players like Eide and Dietel we have enough scoring options. They won't put up 20+ every night but over 10 points/game should be doable. The main scorers will be Rotart, Macie, Jill, Sunnarborg and maybe Waytashek.

                              One thing I like about T Heiser was her determination to score some points in the game. She had like three straight misses but kept at it going for rebounds and shooting till she did. Eide showed no fear driving under tha basket to get points. First game some of the girls looked a little losted at times but that will work itself out.

                                I see Rotert getting the chance to be a big time scorer. Like ang 20-25 pts a game. Young I hope is more consistant scoring, its tough seeing her with only 4 or 6 points agame the way she can shoot. Edie I think will be a suprise scoring. The rest will be able to have big games but still spread the production around.

                                I know Duke haters will hate me making this comparison, but I see Rotert a lot like JJ redick from Duke. comes in as a freshman only shoots the 3 and dang good at it. Some probably feel would not amount to more then a 3 pt specialist, but worked hard and is going to impress a lot of people with great all around play, much better D then they get credit for and ability to drive the lane to create and score more. just my opinion.
