One thing i noticed, and this is minor,it takes them too long in transition to get the ball up the court. This is mainly because they don't separate and make passes to quickly get it up court, rather it stays in the points control all the way up court, but the point isn't fast enough to get an easy transition bucket.I miss Maria getting away early on the break for an easy bucket.Hope someone else can aquire that trait this year.Over all ,they look ok(a little rusty)for the first exhibition game of the year.

Remember they were not playing with their two PG...both out until around Thanksgiving. Others were handling that job today.

I still have a hard time believing Gabby will be back to full strength by then after blowing her knee out in December and breaking her knee-cap in two in May. If Macie comes back full-strength , I would let Paluch and Heiser back her up this year ,and save a year of eligibility for Gabby.

Maria's biggest stength was her quickness for her size and her ability to run the floor. I'm not sure any of the bigs from last year's team can do that - hopefully Waytashek or one of the other new players can provide it.

Gabby will redshirt this year, I can't imagine carrying four pt. guards. Sunnaborg is the one who can run the floor and get out in front BUT she has to catch the pass without fumbling it. Eide will get 10 & 8 everynight without even running a set her way, she is just smooth. Don't forget that Heiser was POY as a Senior and she is a very capable player.

Waytashek will be able to run the floor well, but she is not a post player.

Any prognosis on when Waytashek returns? Given what I have heard about her talent, I'm anxious to see her play. I'm guessing she'd start in place of Dietel?

By the way, Strop looks like she'll be a nice option in the post. I don't know what kind of scorer she is, but she has a big body and moves pretty well. I would guess she and Lingle will compete for minutes.

I thought the point guards did fine yesterday. We lacked the explosiveness of Macie, but she'll be back. In the meantime, Paluch did a good job of avoiding turnovers. And Jill is a sneakier point guard than people give her credit for.

[rant] Last point: If our pep band doesn't learn some new songs, I'm going to lose it. Hang on Sloopy? Celebration? Seriously? They've been playing those songs since I was in college in the 1980s. We have such a fantastic band program that it's really surprising our pep band brings so little to the atmosphere (and while I'm ranting... could you please play the fight song a little slower? They play it so fast you can't even hear the melody). Nobody's arguing about the talent there. They are great musicians. But I wish they would change things up a bit. Maybe I should be thanking them: When I'm at a game I can close my eyes and it's 1988 and I'm 24 years old again... [/end rant]

One thing the ladies haven't lost is that sneakiness in the score. For as sloppy as they were playing and it looked like a close game when you looked at the score they were ahead by twenty. Makes you go "How did that happen?"'

Not sure when Waytashek returns. She may be a starter at some point, but I doubt it will be for a post unless AJ wants to run a more perimeter type offense because she's a wing player. Kristen had a phenomenal day. She dominated the offensive end in the first half. Sunnarborg had a tremendous second half. Eide showed some flashes of just being able to make plays. Dietel showed some physicality inside with a bunch of rebounds. She gets after it. JimmyJack hit the nail on the head with Strop. She moves pretty well, and has pretty long arms. Once she gets used to the physical game at this level, she'll be a productive player.

Yep, made that comment myself. Brand new season, same old set list. They play them all very well but a change up is desperately needed.

What does it take to make that happen? Coull is a fantastic arranger/composer, you'd think he would love cooking up new stuff.
