    Re: JUCO Point Guard?

any word on if any other colleges were showing interest/offered to arieus?

Looks like he averaged about 15 points, 3.5 assists, 2 Rebounds.

Shooting percentage was only about 35%, but he looks to be a scorer.

From what I can tell that seems unlikely. Colby CC finished 0-16 in the Jayhawk Community College Conference. He was the best player on the worst team in an intrastate CC conference. Not exactly high profile. Maybe I'm wrong.

Nice to have another point guard option on the team. Looking at their website they indeed had a very tough year.

I'm not sure if this kid is a reach or not, as it's hard to judge someone who was the best player on the worst team. Sometimes that means the player is good but didn't have any support, other times it means a player picked up the work load by default, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The best part about the kid is his 4.0 GPA, as it is always nice to see us bring in athlete who understands the important of the "student" portion of the student-athlete title. It's definitely easy to root for a kid like this to succeed.

Arieus Stephenson seems like an excellent replacement for Michael Palarka. ... The Jacks may come out of the four-player loss/shuffle much better than they entered it. Especially if they get the transfer from Arizona State.

Unfortunately,I believe Colby CC is more well known as a strong wrestling school.

Aireus is #3 in this picture. After an 0-16 conference run bet he can't wait to get out of Colby and on to Brookings. http://www.colbycc.edu/athletics/ind...d=39&Itemid=68

Right now we have three post players and they are Fiegen (true sophomore), Dykstra (true freshman), & Heemstra (true freshman).

I don't think Dale or Griff can play the 4, even in limited minutes. (Unless we run a run & gun offense like Centenary had last year). Pederson and White might be able to play some PF but it's not ideal for either.

We are going to need one or two more post players for depth and incase one of the players gets hurt. I'm sure the coaching staff knows this though, and is out there doing their best to bring in what we need.
I would really like to get another PF or C (I think we will before the season starts) but I think we'll be better there this year than last year. I know that Fiegen, Dykstra and Heemstra are young but I think they are a upgrade from last years team.

Feigen will be better with the year under his belt. I think at the end of last year, he was our best post player(with AC's injuries).
AC was injured last year and didn't play as well as he did the year before.
Kai played his heart out but he wasn't a 4/5 player either. He was the best player we had down there so he played there his freshman year. He has been playing the 4 spot his whole career. I know that Griff isn't as tall as Kai but he uses his body and seem to enjoy doing the dirty work down low.
I know you have to take Kai and AC's experience into account but Dykstra and Heemstra have a better mix of health, height, athletic ability, etc... Bring in 1 proven 5 player and this team is better than last years team.
