  • Re: 2006 Recruits

The only arguement I have in the logic of Cadsev's post is this.

As far as luring the states top talent to SDSU, it will only happen if an athlete has a strong desire to play Division 1 and they do not have very many other offers on the table. Most athletes love competition and like rewards for their individual and team efforts. Not many like to play their butts off, train all year long to have their season end March 1st every year regardless of record. Until SDSU is established in a conference and is eligible for an NCAA tournament the states top talent will look elsewhere
If this is totally true then why did Tveidt pick NDSU? By this logic he would have taken offers at Richmond or UMW. I think the lure of playing D-I schedule and being somewhat close to home will play into some decisions.

Again, good luck to Tveidt other than twice a year!

Whoooooooa Cadsev! Coming on this site and spreading truths is extremely discouraged. Not being able to speculate will destroy this and any board like it. Destroy it, I say!

By the way, Cadsev has intimate knowledge of what he is talking about. Aside from the kids, their parents and their highschool coaches, Cadsev has more knowledge about SD's best hoopsters than anyone in the state.

As for Michael Tveidt, only he can answer why he chose to attend NDSU!
Thanks for the information. As best as I can determine you are saying that identical scholarship offers were available, on the table, in front of Michael, from all the teams you mentioned (except SDSU after Cordova signed) and Tviedt chose to sign the one from NDSU. I for one am glad he will remain close to home.

          Yep that is correct.

Early signing period is November 9-13. Noticed Cordova was at the Upper Iowa exhibition game. Look forward to seeing him and Bassett signing on the dotted line on Wednesday!

I was wondering if that was him in the west seats. Changed his hair style.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Cordova is a guy built for the physical game of college basketball right now. Unlike Engen and Bilitz he won't have to spend as much time in line for seconds.

I'll say. My wife and I thought maybe that big guy was a juco transfer or something. He's a senior in high school? Wow, he's definitely already got a D1 build on him. I can't wait to see him in a Jackrabbit uniform.

Some comments on a Iowa Preps Board about incoming Jacks recruit Thomas Bassett who had a good summer of AAU Ball and of course is considered one of the top players in the Senior Class in Iowa.

I agree too that Bohannon is the best player in the state. He held his own and then some playing for Martin Brothers. I also believe that Bassett, Egleseder and Gentry are a close second through fourth - not necessarily in that order.

Gentry didn't impress me until I saw him play at Urbandale high school this summer. I missed the state tournament. I saw him play for Iowa's AAU team and Lamaak showed up more than Gentry.

I've watched Bassett play AAU ball for the Rimrockers and he's a beast on the court. Teams sent their best players at him and he was unstoppable. And Egleseder, as most posts have indicated, is good.

I believe another addition to the list should be Edin Soljic from D.M. Roosevelt. Nice mid-range jumper, solid defense, fierce competitor and quietly gets the job done.

Since we are looking forward to getting the signature of Bassett and Cordova on Wednesday I thought I would bring back the video of Bassett throwing one down with authority!

Moving to Yankton in July 06' and can't wait to start using my season tickets on a regular basis. Its a 2 hour drive I am more than willing to make even on a weekday. Especially with the quality kids will be seeing on the court in the coming years.

Doc's moving to Y town... Congratulations. I am always envious when posters get to move back to SD. I liken it to being called up to the majors. I guess you have to be from SD to appreciate it. My day will come sometime!!

If this has already been posted, then my bad...but on scout.com, there are 3 players listed as being recruited by SDSU for the class of '06.

                                Cordova
                                Gentry

and a player I've yet to hear of until now, Hamza Ruhezamihigo out of Edmonton, AB, Canada. A 6'3'' PG/SG. Also is considering Canisius, Penn State, and Yale. All are listed at Medium Interest, none have offered scholarships.
