Re: Jacks in 3rd all alone...

Sitting in 4th place after the weekend. I would argue we'd be better off as the 3 seed as things stand now.

I would say that any seed is good. After all, not many people gave the men a chance against ORU last year. As long as they are in the tourney they have a chance.

I have faith that this team can beat anyone in Sioux Falls.

I hope we get the chance to play the Bison again. I just don't buy into this "they've got our number" crappola.

The last few years they were a better team, period. This year, I think we have demonstrated that we have a more talented team but we haven't closed the deal. I give NDSU all the credit for winning the two games. They hung in there and we opened the door.

My reasoning comes from two places. First, if we can't beat the Bison then we probably aren't going to beat anybody else in SF. Sure, we may match up better with other teams but if we play well we beat them. Second, if we draw them and beat them what a confidence boost that would be going into the next round(s).

The only monkey left for this team is to beat the Bison. I hope we get the chance!

Give me IPFW for a first round game. No screwing around when it comes tournament time.

When they are going to have to play three games in three days to make the Big Dance, the rival, that I think does indeed have their number, for a mentally exhausting first round game is not a good recipe for three wins in three days.

Now if NDSU wants to upset Oral Roberts and IUPUI, I will gladly play them for the title to get the monkey off the Jacks back.

I agree, They were better for a few years now we should be able to win these games and I want nothing more then to play NDSU again. Knocking them out of the tourny would be great and I would not care what round it would be. I think they are the last team we have not beaten yet in confrence and its time we do, we got the road wins off our back now its time to move forward again and show NDSU the start of a new era.

Re: Jacks in 3rd all alone...

Here is some news that I caught in the press conference with Saul Phillips after the NDSU-SDSU game on Saturday. Nelson went down with a groin injury but it doesn't say for how long and I couldn't find any more info on it.

The Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team picked up its 20th victory of the season Saturday night by knocking off UMKC by a score of 83-71.

Senior point guard Johnathon Jones scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting to lead Oakland University to its fifth-straight win.

OU lost starting forward Derick Nelson to a groin injury in the opening minutes of the game. The severity of the injury is not yet known. Nelson played just three minutes.

Saul Phillips' press conference from Sat. night is here and Nelson's injury is brought up breifly.

I too would like a NDSU men's bb rematch in the Summit. It likely to be like the Wrestling deuel where Bucky claimed the Jacks grapplers did not belong on his mat, BUT WE BEAT THE BISON. Our chances in the Summit Tourney are good.

I think a simple solution to that problem is in the admin's hands...I know on Bisonville (eek, am I really comparing bisonville to sdsufans?) the screen name of the person who reps you is automatically shown. I'd love it if that were done here.

The random "ur an idiot" neg rep I got the other day from the NDSU day thread just doesn't do it for me.

As for the tournament. I'd like to see the Jacks take on NDSU right off the bat.

Im not sure its possible for us to play NDSU right away . IPFW is guaranteed at worse, a tie with NDSU and with their two wins against the bison, they would finish higher. So if we are the 4 seed, the bison wont be the 5 seed A 3 way tie between SDSU, IPFW and NDSU, i think would give us the 6 seed? Our record against NDSU and IPFW is 1-3, NDSU against us and IPFW is 2-2 and IPFW against NDSU and us is 3-1. So if im reading the tie breakers right, IPFW would be 4th seed, NDSU 5th seed and SDSU 6th , in a 3 way tie. We could still tie for 3rd with Oral Roberts if they lose their last two and we win our last two. But i believe Oral Roberts would get the 3rd seed over us.

If we win one of our last two games, I think we will be the 4th seed. IPFW has one game left at Oakland. We will proibably play IPFW in the first round.

Actually if we would win he would likely be very happy as we would send them packing!

This could very well be, I haven't had time to break down the seeding possibilities myself, so thanks.

If NDSU wins out, and the Jacks lose both, NDSU will be the 5th seed. But it's looking like NDSU will be the 6 seed. I dont see you guys losing to WIU

Yep all you have to do is win one game and you're in the 4/5 game.

If we (9-7) go 0-2 and NDSU (7-9) goes 2-0 they hold the tiebreaker over us so suddenly we're the 6 seed and facing ORU. IPFW (9-9) would play NDSU (9-9) in the 4/5 game.

If we just win against WIU on Thursday we will be 10-7 and will be guaranteed the 4/5 game vs. IPFW in the tourney.

If NDSU loses only once we are guaranteed the 4/5 game against IPFW.

                                My take:

                                Sat 6PM: OU 86 UMKC 68
                                Sat 8PM: IUPUI 72 WIU 53
                                Sun 6PM: SDSU 74 IPFW 72
                                Sun 8PM: ORU 68 NDSU 61

                                Mon 6PM: OU 81 SDSU 72
                                Mon 8PM: IUPUI 76 ORU 70

                                Tues: OU 86 IUPUI 78
