Re: Jacks in 3rd all alone...

Here is some news that I caught in the press conference with Saul Phillips after the NDSU-SDSU game on Saturday. Nelson went down with a groin injury but it doesn't say for how long and I couldn't find any more info on it.

The Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team picked up its 20th victory of the season Saturday night by knocking off UMKC by a score of 83-71.

Senior point guard Johnathon Jones scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting to lead Oakland University to its fifth-straight win.

OU lost starting forward Derick Nelson to a groin injury in the opening minutes of the game. The severity of the injury is not yet known. Nelson played just three minutes.

Saul Phillips' press conference from Sat. night is here and Nelson's injury is brought up breifly.

I agree, They were better for a few years now we should be able to win these games and I want nothing more then to play NDSU again. Knocking them out of the tourny would be great and I would not care what round it would be. I think they are the last team we have not beaten yet in confrence and its time we do, we got the road wins off our back now its time to move forward again and show NDSU the start of a new era.

Give me IPFW for a first round game. No screwing around when it comes tournament time.

When they are going to have to play three games in three days to make the Big Dance, the rival, that I think does indeed have their number, for a mentally exhausting first round game is not a good recipe for three wins in three days.

Now if NDSU wants to upset Oral Roberts and IUPUI, I will gladly play them for the title to get the monkey off the Jacks back.

The last few years they were a better team, period. This year, I think we have demonstrated that we have a more talented team but we haven't closed the deal. I give NDSU all the credit for winning the two games. They hung in there and we opened the door.

My reasoning comes from two places. First, if we can't beat the Bison then we probably aren't going to beat anybody else in SF. Sure, we may match up better with other teams but if we play well we beat them. Second, if we draw them and beat them what a confidence boost that would be going into the next round(s).

The only monkey left for this team is to beat the Bison. I hope we get the chance!

I would say that any seed is good. After all, not many people gave the men a chance against ORU last year. As long as they are in the tourney they have a chance.

I have faith that this team can beat anyone in Sioux Falls.

The enthusiasm and standing is great.

Just remember some fans can't stand the whole game. My father was not very happy at the U of M football game and had to go sit by himself so he could sit. By the way, we were the 2nd to last row from the top, and the guys in the 3rd to the top row were the only ones standing the whole game in the stadium it seemed. (what luck huh?)

This isn't a rant by any means and I have always been first to stand at football games, but we also need to be courteous to those that physically aren't able to stand long and have paid to see the game. And no, we can't ask them to go sit elsewhere if they are with their family.

Again I don't want to start a discussion on this as it is a rarity, just a friendly reminder that they might be the case.

LOL I already gave Kayti, (my daughter) permission to stand and cheer as loud as she wants all night. We are just waiting for her best friend to get home from her grandmas this morning and we are all taking off... this is going to be fun.

I'll be the first one up and the last one to sit down, if people don't like that don't come to the big games.

Thats what mods may partially be here for. Maybe to merge threads and close them and such as needed? Maybe we should have a new thread started to ask for permission to open a new thread. If someone has something they would like to post I say feel free to post and create threads as needed.

So I saw that ORU had lost, that SDSU was in 3rd place and in my excitement I started a new thread about it....and that's a bad thing? Excitement about SDSU is a bad thing that should cause someone to give a fellow SDSU fan negative points? You want us to be like the USD, UMKC or many other D1 programs and have a dead board? I try to bring something to this board. I try to draw interest and excitement. If that means you have to move your finger a quarter inch and click on another thread that I started that may contain some of the same info that another thread has, then, holy moly, send me as much negative feedback as you can b/c SDSU is just not ready to have more than one thread started about people excited about what is happening now or in the future.

Okay, now, for those who think they're going to get all excited and actually stand on their feet tonight against NDSU you guys better understand that paying fans are sitting behind you and you could very well recieve a frown and "boo" if you dare feel the need to stand and cheer.

And thanks to all the good fans who sent me positive rep points here. You guys obviously get it. You're the people who STAND and cheer and write checks. Wish more of you would have signed your names. Thanks!
