ORU beat number twelve New Mexico by I think fifteen tonight.

I could only listen to the game tonight, while my husband and son made the trip to watch and bring the boys home. Wishing everyone a safe trip home, a restful holiday, and a Very Merry Christmas from the Callahan family to yours! Let's go after the rest of the Summit League in the New Year guys!!!! Go JACKS!!

              Re: Minnesota GDT

Effort was good tonight, but defense execution was lousy after the first 10 minutes of play. Our defense allowed the Gophers to drive the middle of the lane too much, and when that happens team defense breaks down and easy baskets are made. They definitely have a speed and height advantage on us, but we weren't out classed that bad that we couldn't have made it a close game (as shown in the first half of the first half, which was probably our best stint of defense all year).

The biggest positive was the play of Nate Wolters, as I thought he physically matched up well against the Gopher players on both ends of the court.

no problem. btw - i am a gophers fan. i kind of just stumbled onto this thread, but wanted to let you know your kid has potential promise at some level of pro ball if he keeps shooting with that proficiency throughout the rest of his college career.

                merry christmas!

Watched the whole game. Jacks played really well the first 12 minutes and did not play that badly throughout. Minnesota might win the Big 10. A little over midway through the first half the Jacks had a couple of bad outlet passes and Gophers hit nine straight shots and that really turned the game around. They had a couple of shots fall that were just pure luck.
Jacks have weapons. They will be a Summit factor. Enjoy Christmas, everyone... It's been a pretty good year in Jackrabbitland.

We got beat by 30 points. By far the worst beat down in the past 5 years playing the Gophers. Can anyone explain how this is progress ... Bueller ... Bueller ...

The gophers are a much better team under Tubby this year than they have been in previous years.

No doubt about it. The Gophers have incredible depth, with little or no drop off in talent from one player to the next.

                            Re: Minnesota GDT

I was encouraged with Mark Engen's play last night and wonder why don't see him for 5-10 minutes a game. We lack a true center that can protect the rim and Mark moved around pretty well last night. I think his biggest weakness is just staying in control on offense and his shot selection, but he came in last night and had 3 blocks in 5 minutes and gave the team good energy.
Cordova isn't playing at the level he played at last year and he looks lost/asleep at times out on the floor. It wouldn't hurt to play Engen more against the tall lankier centers.

A rotation of Engen, Cordova, and Fiegen at the post could present some serious match-up issues for opponents, as each has different strengths and weaknesses as a post player. Engen's got the height, Cordova's got the toughness and pretty good inside offensive moves, and Fiegen looks to me to be the most athletic of the three, but inexperienced as a freshman.

Seems like this could be exploited more as we get into the conference.

Is anyone else surprised the Gophers are playing this well considering they lost 2 players (I think) to off the court issues earlier in the year? Or maybe they got them reinstated and I never saw that.

Also, lets see how the rest of the season plays out. Last year the Gophers had a great non-conference season playing their way into a top-25 ranking. The Big 10 season they were 9-9 and T-7th. I would have to say their non-conferenece schedule was weaker than it was this year.

                                Just my thoughts.
