According to Nagy we gave the game to them, We had to adjust to their intensity, he wants the other team to adjust to the Jacks intensity. He feels the Jacks should have won. We are happy with this game because in the past the Jacks would have probably been blown out by half like a few times last year. The feeling is different this year. It's going to take a few for us to expect to win every game. Just my opin.

Yes, sure they are a big10 school and ranked #7, but they were missing a couple players. With the direction our program is going I feel that we can't be happy with losses anymore.
I never said I was happy with the loss, but the effort this year is probably more than we have seen in the past 5 years. Yes maybe they could have won, but I am glad it was not like the Texas Tech -USD game. At least we had chances down to the final minutes.
One step at a time. We are not the New York Yankees. These kids are students too besides hanging out in the gym.

I think this game showed how important it is for Cordova to stay out of foul trouble..... also I think its important for either Callahan or Sargent to stay in the game, it seemed as if they were invisible for the first 8-10 minutes of the first half. Coming out in the second half has always been a problem for the Jacks and they need to fix that.... scoring 5 points in the first 6-8 minutes is something that needs to be fixed....

Everyone who texts me says what a great job SDSU did. The Oral Roberts board is congratulating SDSU. This was a great effort by SDSU. I watch Central Arkansas lose by 50 last night to KU. ECU lost by 49 today at the Paradise Jam.

From where this program has been the last 5 years I can say that I am darn happy we played with the #7 team in the country all night, darn happy!

No way did I expect we would win. In fact, I was just hoping to not get embarassed. I think our kids gained more confidence tonight. I guarantee they're not going to go to bed tonight feeling bad. That's a good thing. A moral victory tonight? Fine, I'll take it.

And I'm not saying you aren't human and aren't allowed to get upset. But the above comment is a little surprising coming from you.
Mike will be just fine. He is a professional individual sticking his neck out on a fan forum. He isn't going to let anything on here affect his professional career just like the rest of us.

I sometimes wonder what the individual who was not part of the angst that came with the move to DI thinks of those who stuck their neck out. Those who put their money where their mouth is. Those who were willing to accept the consequences of a negative outcome.

I've said it before, you better stick with your allies. People are very willing to be on your side when things are going well, those people aren't important. It's the people who are there beside you in your darkest days that will always be there. I know where I stand.

I have a suspicion that had it not gone as well as it as certain people would have relished that fact. Again, I may be out of line.
Hey, I don't blame you. My only suggestion, if I'm allowed to make one, is for us to just move on.

Many in the media were bitter as well. Bitter that we were leaving D2 and the beloved NCC. It was okay for them to be bitter and tell us about it. I stopped listening to KWSN b/c one of their guys is STILL bitter about it. I wonder now though, if he admits he was wrong. At least USD admits they were wrong.

Why? Because I don't have any skin in this game.

I'm not going to go around making myself miserable because the Jacks could've beaten two Big Ten teams in less than a week.

There's no point in me, a guy with no connection to the program, being all tore up about an eminently respectable showing.

Guys can we stop with the attacking of everyone who doubted the move to D-I?

If SDSU had turned out like Northern Colorado they would of been saying I told you so.... SDSU didn't have anyone to look at in the region that had made the move so nobody knew, yeah everybody supported the Coyote move to D-I because after SDSU/NDSU and a slew of others left D-II it wasn't that great, and because they had seen the success that SDSU, NDSU and others had had with transition....

I'm just saying guys, maybe we can just say hey, we did it and that is that, not everytime we win a game, everytime we play against a ranked team and play good that we tell everyone I told ya so.....

I never said I told you so. I asked plenty of questions at the time of the decision to move to DI. I asked about academics, I asked about endowments, I asked about state support, I still talk to legislators who are not in support of our institution because they are convinced the move to DI was about athletics only.

Don't be naive. Post here and cheer for the Jackrabbits, that is important. However, if we don't continue to advocate for SDSU as DI institution the opposition will gain a foot hold. Economic times are tough and they aren't getting better as fast as you might think.

SDSU needs your undivided support if indeed you are a Jackrabbit fan and I'm not speaking to any individual. We aren't negotiating our way out of travel games because we want to. We aren't playing USD sooner than we should because we want to. We need support for the Jackrabbits, unwavering support.

I agree, this issue started getting old about 1 year after USD announced it was making the move. Reminds me of something one of my old pastors said: Forgiveness is as much for the person doing the forgiving as for the one they are absolving. By making peace, you are able to move on and not have the anger eating you up inside and making you someone that nobody wants to be around.

Switch "forgiveness" to "moving on" and I think it is appropriate. We have a new president and AD; neither of them seem to be the type of people that linger on past transgressions.

I know what you are saying. I'm only asking that those who are truly dedicated to SDSU and what it means to South Dakota not rest on their laurels. Times are tough, we are still in transition and support is what we need. Don't get passive, don't be tempted to fall back to what was and not look forward to what we can be. The Summit league is great but their are bigger goals. The rivalry with USD and Northern was great but their are greater goals. If we get Dakota centric we are going to lose out on what the move to DI was all about.

Just because USD decided to trail behind us and can't find the schedule they want is not a reason for us to limit our ability to play well established DI programs. You can justify it however you want. An extra 2000 fans at an extra $5 each at the price that USD might not bring any level of competition to the field long term. Be smart, be true to who you are. Is USD really in this fight because they want to be or because they have to be? Stay true to SDSU don't get lulled into a sense of comfort with USD, they are desparate right now and will say and do whatever it takes.
