Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

For 2009 the system budget for Purdue's main campus and the Purdue operated chunks of IUPUI, Purdue Calumet, Purdue North Central, and IPFW is $1.1B. Purdue's main campus has a budget of $873M(1)

        South Dakota's budget for 2009/10 is $3.5B.(2)

The BOR budget for 09/10 is $616M(3)

        For '09, Purdue's system enrollment is 74,319(4) @ $1.1B budget

For '09, the BOR system enrollment is 33,779(5) @ $616M budget

No doubt, Purdue is a good school--IMO a model of a true land grant university.

But it's not that big, and funding per student is not head and shoulders above South Dakota.

I was off, but so are you. You understand, of course, the general fund is only one element of a university's budget. Sponsored programs (grant funding) is in the hundreds of millions annually at Purdue.

From the Purdue Finance Committee report for 2009:

"The general fund, which supports the academic mission of the university, represents only a portion of the university's total system-wide operating budget. The full operating budget totals more than $1.96 billion for fiscal year 2009 and includes the general fund; sponsored programs; gifts; and revenue from residence halls, athletics, other auxiliary income and university-funded financial aid."

By comparison, SDSU's total budget including the same sources is $224 million. That's 1/9 of Purdue's budget.

Nearly 40,000 students on the West Lafayette campus alone. Compare that to OU, for example, with 23,000. Iowa has about 28,000 students. UN-L, 24,000.

        It's that big.
        Holy nutmeg!

Boilermakers by 19-1/2 points is the line.

I honestly have no idea what to expect.

I remember a few years ago when Illinois was coming off their championship game the previous year and SDSU travelled to Champaign and played a pretty good game against a top 10 team there. This is on a neutral court and this Jacks team is way better than that team.

But if the Jacks are beaten by greater than the line. I guess I won't be terribly surprised either. There have been some top 10 teams this year putting the hurt down on mid-major teams.

Illini stomped us pretty badly in the end. I was at Cubby's watching that game, my impression, slow start by Illinois, faster start by SDSU. In the end they crushed us. I think we lost by nearly 30. Holdren had a huge game, you could tell he was psyched.

Purdue only favored by 19.5, that tells you that Vegas noticed our victory over Wyoming.

We have a much improved team but we aren't the caliber of a Big 10 team, especially not a top tier team like Purdue. I hope we play crisp, clean, hard-nosed ball and earn some respect. I'm not really too worried about what the scoreboard says.

Just got this e-mail info. Maybe this is common knowledge. Where can a guy get the broadband broadcast?

The South Dakota State University men's basketball team's opening game of the Paradise Jam against Purdue (Ind.) Friday night is scheduled to be streamed live on Fox College Sports Broadband.

Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. Central Time (9:30 p.m. Atlantic Time) from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The first six games of the Paradise Jam will be available exclusively through FCS Broadband. The remaining games from the tournament will be available through a combination of Fox College Sports television and FCS Broadband. Games televised on Fox College Sports through cable or satellite providers will not be carried on FCS Broadband in the United States.

Ah ha, I see that now. I suspect I'll just be listening to Scotty Kwas on WNAX.

Ok, my bad. I was thinking the Illinois game was 20 in the end, but close for about 25-30 minutes. I remember Holdren...then he WENT to Illinois.

Personally I would rather beat the Gophers on Christmas Eve Eve when it comes to playing Big 10 teams. Aren't the Jacks due to finally win at Williams Arena?

Just please, please don't get swept this weekend. We are all pretty high (figuratively not literally) right now on this team.

I think you are thinking of the Kentucky game... SDSU only lost by like 24 and played pretty even in the second half....

Both Illinois and Ky. were in the same year, '06..

Jacks lost by 17 to Kentucky, 25 to Illinois.

Jacks got down 14-2 to Kentucky but cut it to 9 just before half. Margin stayed under 20 most of second half and Jacks cut it to 14 with two left.

Two games later against Illinois Jacks were up 10-7 early, were 6 down with 4 left in the first half and down by 14 with 8 left in the game. Illinois pulled away from there, to 90-65.

I see fox broadband requires internet explorer. Nothing like excluding 25%+ of your customer base.
