With a young team, you have to wait patiently, watching them make their mistakes, until the time comes when they start to "get it." I think that's where this team has been, really for all of last year and this year up until now. That's what has been driving Nagy and the rest of the coaches (not to mention we fans) absolutely crazy.
But, with a young team, there comes a point where the players start thinking "Oh! that's how it's supposed to work!" and the game slows down for them, just a little bit. The players relax and have a bit more fun with the game. Shots that were short (or long) start going in. Free throws get easier to shoot.
I hope that's where we're at right now.
I do believe they are beginning to "get it". However, that still doesn't mean we sweep the rest of the teams on our schedule. We just aren't deep enough to compete at the DI level on an every game basis.
It will be a tough battle against NDSU in Fargo and then off to Orlando where a UCF team the has only lost 1 home game this year and played Kentucky to 2 points awaits. Then, its ISU in Pocatello, ID where they are 7-0 thus far this year. It will be tough to get a win in any of those 3 games.
We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler
We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
was listening to craig and mike today and they were bashing sdsu's attendance again. they said sdsu should be embarrassed by the crowd. then they went on to give excuses why there were only 4800 at the augie / U game. I guess 4800 for an augie/usd game isnt real great, augie/state or usd/ state alway had over 8000 at frost arena. of course there was nothing thrown on the court at the state game like the coyote was at the augie game. a caller said, which would you pick, D1 basketball or D2 basketball. im still going to sdsu games, even if there are only 1500.
If we could go 7-7 in our remaining games I will do backflips!! I'm glad the guys are getting some confidence thats all this team needs!! We have some tough games ahead, Idaho St. was mentioned, Utah St. is very good and we face Fullerton again. also NDSU wont be a walk in the park either.
Having said that... if we could achieve a 11 or 12 win season with all these young guys, I would be more than satisfied with that!! (And I would have said that at the begining of the season too)

Take Craig and Mike for what they're worth, which isn't much.
Not good compared to previous seasons, but for a team with SDSU's record??
I'm going to compare the Manhattan game to the USD/Augie game.
Manhattan - 2,083 Jacks fans. a 3-7 record, a non-conference and non-rival opponent. 50+ miles away from campus.
USD/Augie - 4,800 U+Augie fans. Huge rivalry, conference game, not sure on Augies record, but the U is nationally ranked and only had 1 or 2 losses. The U is what about 50 miles away, Augie - Home.
To me it looks like State did much better. And we didn't have to watch dead frozen animals thrown onto the court. (sad to see the Argus playing that up, if you saw the picture and the articles, you know what I mean).
I'm lose respect for our local media everyday. But I know they will all be eating crow in 10 years when they have to follow the #1 show in SD everyday 8)
