No defensive stops and allowing offensive rebounds. Its taken its toll, and I think coach is very troubled about those two areas of performance.

I dont think Tivis would have gotten where he is in the program if he could not play defense.
Saying Selken can play defense is an understatement... from the time he started playing varsity as a sophomore he was probably hands down the best defensive player in the state. I've never seen a defender frustrate the opponent more than he did in high school.

I think key next year will be Davis and any other help Jacks can get Cordova inside. The offensive rebounds that killed us in so many games so late might not be there for opponents next year.

If Davis can't go next year I hope we go find another Junior College Post.

If Selken were such a defensive diamond, why was he not recruited by DI, or DII? He was a non-scholarship player at NAIA USF. He walked on.

Nobody really knows if Selken will contribute for the Jacks this coming season, the next, or never. He might be a diamond in the rough or a stick in the mud, but either way, the Jacks lose nothing by having him on the team.

Doesn't that Tony Romo know he has no shot of being a starting NFL QB, let alone a Pro Bowler. The guy played at 1-AA football at Eastern Illinois and wasn't even drafted.

Seriously though, Selken wasn't brought in to be a starter, like you would want people to believe. He was brought in to add depth. Down the road, in a couple years, he could develop into a Palarca-type guy and get some minutes. Look at the scrubs at the end of the bench at Kansas. They stink. But they show up, go to class, practice hard and love being a part of the program. You need those type of guys.

I think I'm going to watch Carlson play at O'G tonight. Thought about going over and watching Lincoln (vs. Yankton) but that game should be over at half.

Selken will not be getting much playing time, if any, for the Jack's. He's a practice player and maybe down the road in two or three years he'll get some minutes. I wouldn't really look to hard into this. But of course, that's why you're here.....

All teams can use a "Rudy" type player. Someone who works their ass off and WANTS to be on the team. Who knows he could turn into a defensive specialist if he works hard enough.

We are not using a scholarship with him so I say let him on the team.

Why not reward the guy for helping with the practice squad with suiting up. If he is busting his arse helping the team in practice and you have room on the bench for walk-ons, why not. Never saw him in high school or USF, and I'm pretty sure you didn't either, so how can you just make the assumption he isn't worth it.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

No I haven't. Just by word of mouth from ppl. Maybe he'll be a guy that plays when he's a senior, but highly likely.
