    Re: UMKC in Brookings

When Nagy said that Jacks' Oakland win at home was big, he wasn't kidding.
NDSU blowing it tonight really hurt Jacks' chances, and I hate to say it, but it COULD come down to Jacks needing to win at Centenary. Jacks need UMKC to rise to the occasion and beat Centenary next week. Don't want this to get down to tiebreakers. WIU has three tough games but all are at home.
A win in Fargo would clinch tournament berth for Jacks, though.

    NDSU 13-2 (SDSU, @Cent @ORU)
    ORU 11-3 (@SUU, @UMKC, SDSU, NDSU)
    Oakland 10-5 (@IUPUI, SUU, UMKC)
    SUU 7-7 (ORU, Cent, @Oakland, @IPFW)
    IUPUI 7-8 (IPFW, Oakland, @WIU)
    SDSU 7-8 (@NDSU, @ORU, @Cent)
    WIU 6-9 (Oakland, IPFW, IUPUI)
    IPFW 5-9 ( @IUPUI, @WIU, UMKC, SUU)
    Centenary 5-9 (@UMKC, @SUU, NDSU, SDSU)
    UMKC 2-12 (Centenary, ORU, @IPFW, @Oakland)

Great win, Moss stepped it up. Next game on the road, first Summit league win there. This team knows they can do it and I expect they will. Wish I could make the trip with them. Nice job. Great win.

I went to the IUPUI doubleheader (missed this one tonight), and while I wasn't impressed with the amount of noise at the IUPUI game, I have a pretty good idea why it was quiet, based on my reactions to the IUPUI games.

And that is, why, exactly, should I be making noise when the Jacks push a 27 point lead to a 29 point lead?

I mean, it's one thing to give a shout or stomp your feet for a slick move in the lane or a swish from behind the arc, but geez, what exactly should we be doing when the Jacks have a 25 point lead on a bunch of patsies who, basically, want the game to get over with so they can go home? What kind of fan is bellering out DE-FENSE (stomp stomp) when their team's got a 20 point lead?

        IMO, that's just rude.

        ---

On the men's side, we made some noise when the Jacks finally pulled away from IUPUI, but after that, it's kind of the same question---the Jacks kept the Jags at arms' length the whole second half, and so what was there to howl about?

4,000 people paid the Jacks the compliment of showing up to watch them play. If noise was needed, I am quite certain it would've been supplied.

I completely agree with zoorapa. The girls won by around 30 and the men were never really threatened. I am sure if the games were close the crowd would have gotten loud. I thought the crowd was good early in the games when it needed to be. Such as when Jill hit those back to back 3's it got pretty loud and when we were pushin out lead it was loud in the mens game and the few times they cut it to 10 it got loud and that was good. The guys played very well minus the first 10 minutes. Dale was completely unstoppable. He was finishing with both hands remarkably. He had 27 and only missed 3 shots. WOW!! AC again played great. I cant remember who it was but someone mentioned running our offense through him every time. GREAT IDEA!! and it isnt even so much because he has a few unstoppable moves has much as it is his ability to pass. He is so patient in the post to either get a clear out for him or to wait for someone to double and then find the extra guy. Anybody who says we cant win with SD talent needs to take a look at AC and Dale and realize how much better they have become since arriving and know that we can win if we get the best SD has to offer. I agree, the fans can ease up when we've got a big lead, that's not what I'm saying...I thought though, that even in the first 10 minutes of each game, the crowd seemed really disinterested....I just hadn't seen that in awhile, usually it's a little more rockin.

I was at the game and it was really fun. Moss was crazy good! I agree the crowd was in it when they needed to be. Nice wins for the Men and Women.

Me, too, Filbert. Jacks HAVE lost some games in this transition period when they've had double-digit leads.

Its great that people vocally support the Jacks. Stomp your feet, yell defense, exercise your support of a good play on offense or defense. But, we should not criticize our other 4,000 fans for showing their support however they wish. We all want to recall those exciting wins against some NCC rivals or regional victories. But, I recall some real ho-humers against the likes of Morningside, UNO, UNC and others.

I remember games when only 500 fans would show up for a women's game. That was not fun.

I thank all the fans for coming out and supporting the Jacks. I bet the players and coaching staff do as well. My only regret is:

Bring back those cowbells. Ring your bell baby!

It's likely this simple: Buck up, grow a pair and win one on the road and we're in. We have a very good chance down south in La. It's time.
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

What the heck, might as well go out and win all three on the road. If you're gonna break a streak, go ahead and break it good and hard!

                            Possible . . . it was V-day, after all.

If we can't win one conference game on the road than maybe we don't deserve to be in the tournament in Sioux Falls.
