Whatever our final record is, I honestly believe our guys have played as hard and as well as they could. For that they should be proud.

Well we had that game and screwed it up at the end. When you have a three point lead in the closing seconds of a game, you foul the man with the ball to make him shoot two free throws. That is basketball 101. That is just unacceptable.

At the end of OT, SUU was ahead by 3 and we were inbounding the ball. I think SUU was trying to foul, like we should have, but they call Palarca for traveling. It was a bad call, but SUU played that situation correctly and we did not. That was the differrence in the game. You can't blame the ref's for that.

It will take me a few days to get over this one. This one hurt worse than the UMKC game, because in the UMKC game if Williams makes the shot at the end, it only sends the game into OT, still not a guaranteed win. I can forgive someone for missing a basket, I have a much harder time with mental errors.

Its hard to go on the road and win without a guy like Moss.... though we should of won both, i hope that they use this as motivation like they did against IPFW, and win against NDSU Friday night...

Even though this is a tough one to swallow, this team keeps making progress. Remember the prize is at the end of the season.

I posted a real venter of a message last night, but this morning, I decided it deserved the delete button. Our guys are not making the progress that they should in playing defense and that concerns me, but if I had an answer, I put on some sweats and come to practice with my worthy advice.

Why isn't the coach standing yelling at his players to foul before the 3 pointer? Isn't that basketball 101, but instead blames his players for "not knowing the situation"?

Maybe he was. Maybe they had gone over similar situations in practice (as Coach Nagy eluded to in his post game interview). I think by saying the players have to know those situations, no one knows better than the coaching staff who needs to teach it to them.

Also, I'm not sure that strategy is basketball 101. Maybe basketball 301 or 401, IMO. I've heard national commentators debate more than once whether that would be the right strategy, and I've seen it backfire a number of times. If Nielson's shot rims out like Kai's did on Thursday, everyone has a totally different outlook on the game.

Either way, its tough for anyone to win on the road (especially at SUU this year) and I hope the guys can rebound with a great practice and beat NDSU next Friday.

BTW, watching the SUU crowd on Summit TV, they were really into the game and no doubt gave their team a lift at the end. I hope we can do the same when our #1 rival comes to town next week.

Why havent you completed your profile and disclosed your name? You are always full of cheap shots, but never have a solution or a complimentry remark. Lots people live in Fargo ND, so who are you?

You just beat me to it SFRF...I was just planning to say many of the same things. I'm sure that the Bentley women's team was mumbling the same thing after Stacie Cizek made her 3-pointer at the buzzer (with 4.7 seconds left for inbound). That led us to a national championship. Why didn't they foul her?

And the answer is always the same for more coaches: there were a lot of plays during the game that lost the game, not just the last one. And overall poor defensive play has been costing as much or more than one or two mental mistakes.

I'll just say about the two losses, that they were nip-and-tuck and on the road and I think we are so close. Earlier, most posters said they just wanted to see some progress...I think we have made a lot of progress. But we were snake-bitten on this trip, and now need to get back home and win some games.

Coach said SDSU should have been up by 16 at half and I believe if we had a very fine tuned defense, that would have been very true. I think with good defense, we could have won by 20 at SUU and also at UMKC. I now I appear to be a harper, but defense has been Coach Nagy's philosophy and his strong point in coaching. Granted its a still a young team, but I for one think we deserved a sweep if our defense had advanced. Statistics don't lie especially relating to attempts at scoring. They are way too high, I trust the staff will be disecting the game videos and trying to come up with some stops on D. Most of our progress seems to be offensively. Come Saturday are we going to be able to stop the big NDSU three, of Nelson, Winkleman and Woodsides? I hope so.

Oh yes, I forgot Coaches mention of touching and getting called, and it makes me wonder if we are trying too hard on defense? I am not comfortable with these two loses, but will move on eventually.

Agreed. With the benefit of hindsight, it's basketball 101, in real time...not so much.

In keeping with the hindsight theme: I understand that Coach Nagy views playing zone defense as basketballs version of the anti-Christ, but with our foul trouble and poor interior defense, i can't help but think it might have been a viable option.

Without re-stating old arguements, IMHO our guys for the most part play very good defence. We just lack the overall size/quickness/experience to be better on that end. We just need more talent overall. I believe they are doing their best.

How many shots from 30 feet go in on a desperate throw. It happens yea. It was a damn lucky shot and in most cases doesn't go in.

So allowing the opponent to make 60 per cent of their shots is the best we can do? Come on and hey there is an edit button to help you correct all your typos. Also defense spelled d-e-f-e-n-s-e, no "c". Gott IT rabbit boy? Good!!!! We can improve our defense and in turn improve our talent. Its not a talent problem, more of talent development. So what I am I hearing you say is we might as well give up since our defense will allow as much as 60 per cent completion for our opponents and we might get lucky and win by out shooting them on the other end.
