  • Iowa State Cyclones - Game Thread

Anyone heading to Ames on the 23rd? My family and I will be driving through Ames on game day and I was curious what would be the best way to get good tickets (5) at an affordable price. I've never been to a Rabbit game on the road since the DII days and I thought this would be a good option.

Stub Hub is always a good stop:

I got 4 field tickets for the SDSU-ISU football game for 15 dollars a piece.

Edit: Nevermind Stub Hub, they don't have any decent tickets available IMHO.

Christmas Break - Students are gone...playing SDSU = many decent seats available....scalp them if you can't find them at the ISU ticket office...they will be begging people to go, not to mention that ISU is struggling this year.

That is what I was considering. I've been to the Stub Hub site and they did not have a great selection for 5 tickets. The ISU site has some decent seats, but are expensive as compared to what I might be able to find on the street. I agree with you, I can't imagine that we will see much of a crowd that night.

The next two games the Jacks will face teams coached by Gregg McDermott and Ben Jacobson, a lot of NCC history with McDermott, Jacobson and Nagy.

              Here is McDermott's bio:http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle....&Q_SEASON=2008

              And here is Jacobson's:http://unipanthers.cstv.com/sports/m...son_ben02.html

I always thought the UND teams from 1989 through the early nineties were some of the best NCC teams I've ever seen, second of course to some of the great Jackrabbit teams.

Yeah, you won't have any problems finding cheap and decent seats for this game. I'm only expecting 8-9,000 for this game. The students are gone, so you can sit in their seats for I think $10. They are decent seats, on the ends of the court, in the lower/parquet level. You could scalp if you wanted to and possibly get some better seats on the sides, but you might be paying just a tad bit more.

I had this huge thing wrote up then my computer froze....

Iowa State is a lot bigger then SDSU that alone will hurt SDSU... they have 2 6-11 guys and 2 6-10 guys.... one of the 6-11 guys was a canadian who signed with Iowa out of high school but had to go JuCo route do to credit transfer problems... one of the 6-10 guys averaged double figures as a freshman.... there guard play is pretty poor.... they have the brother of Adam Haluska and Carlos Boozer on there team.... its a winnable game but its not a game that we should win.....

25 might be a little steep i'm going to go with 14....

Thompson started his career at Iowa and transferred. He's ok at best. Hamilton is a freshman, ok, not great. Vanderbeken is on and off, very moody. The last game he was in street clothes. Haluska plays some, not bad. Boozer never sees the floor. DNA all went with Carlos. ISU's guards are slower than mud. Stop Brackins and Staiger, and you have a chance.
I agree with a lot of what you said. Brackins will be very good this year if he can keep up his scoring and rebounding during the Big 12 season. Thompson played a little better last game, but still isn't the best. Hamilton needs to get more physical, then he will be good. Vanderbeken hurt his ankle (mildly) so might be back for this game. Otherwise, he is good to have coming off the bench. He's great at blocking shots. Our guards are the main "low" point. Although, the only one slower than mud would be Peterson, but he is also the smartest with the ball. Diante and Buckley (off the bench) are both quick and can drive if the defense isn't fast (like what they will see in the big 12). Boozer never sees the floor unless we're up by 30. Although he can hit the 3 ball, decently. Haluska has a good shot. Staiger, when on fire is deadly from 3. Wes Eikmeier is also deadly from 3 when hot. Brackins, is down right good, when he wants to be and isn't getting doubled the whole game. Should be a decent game, but I see ISU pulling away in the second half to win by 15-20.

Well, based on the way teams seem to shoot against SDSU, if they got a kid that has any chance of stroking it from downtown, he will. For some reason, it seems like every team SDSU plays has at least one guy that'll absolutely go off, and shoot for like 85%. (Or it sure seems like that high of a percentage.)

I'm starting a new thread which will, I hope, concentrate more on the Iowa State Cyclones and tonight's men's basketball game and less on . . . peripheral subjects.
