I agree that Iowa State is not a strong team this year but they have a good coach and should easily handle the Jackrabbits, a team with an rpi hovering around 330 shouldn't give a Big 12 team any problems.

Truthfully not offended at all. I love basketball, and I was merely pointing out a few facts about a team I am very familiar with to your fan base. Then the comment on Midland Lutheran.

Someone predicted Iowa State by 25. My guess is that SDSU plays them to a 10-12 point game, and if you are within 3 with 5 minutes to go, then you might sneak out a win. I watched you play Minnesota, and you are the kind of team that presents problems for them, plus they are going to be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overconfident on this game.

Iowa State should beat them by 25-30, I predict they won't.

I had this huge thing wrote up then my computer froze....

Iowa State is a lot bigger then SDSU that alone will hurt SDSU... they have 2 6-11 guys and 2 6-10 guys.... one of the 6-11 guys was a canadian who signed with Iowa out of high school but had to go JuCo route do to credit transfer problems... one of the 6-10 guys averaged double figures as a freshman.... there guard play is pretty poor.... they have the brother of Adam Haluska and Carlos Boozer on there team.... its a winnable game but its not a game that we should win.....

25 might be a little steep i'm going to go with 14....

I think it depends what SDSU team shows up.... the one that penatrates the defense, hits open shots, fights for loose balls and plays with intensity or the one that mopes around like they want to be outside on the playground playing tag..... you look at the team that played against Cal-State Bakersfield, and Minnesota in the second half and you would say that the team can play with anybody, then you look at the one that played against Denver and UNI and you would say they could get beat by the 6th graders out on the play ground...

They are bigger than SDSU, no doubt. But of the four kids you mentioned, only Brackins is a stud. He is a legit 2nd/3rd Team All Big 12 pick. Thompson started his career at Iowa and transferred. He's ok at best. Hamilton is a freshman, ok, not great. Vanderbeken is on and off, very moody. The last game he was in street clothes. Haluska plays some, not bad. Boozer never sees the floor. DNA all went with Carlos. ISU's guards are slower than mud. Stop Brackins and Staiger, and you have a chance.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Brackins will be very good this year if he can keep up his scoring and rebounding during the Big 12 season. Thompson played a little better last game, but still isn't the best. Hamilton needs to get more physical, then he will be good. Vanderbeken hurt his ankle (mildly) so might be back for this game. Otherwise, he is good to have coming off the bench. He's great at blocking shots. Our guards are the main "low" point. Although, the only one slower than mud would be Peterson, but he is also the smartest with the ball. Diante and Buckley (off the bench) are both quick and can drive if the defense isn't fast (like what they will see in the big 12). Boozer never sees the floor unless we're up by 30. Although he can hit the 3 ball, decently. Haluska has a good shot. Staiger, when on fire is deadly from 3. Wes Eikmeier is also deadly from 3 when hot. Brackins, is down right good, when he wants to be and isn't getting doubled the whole game. Should be a decent game, but I see ISU pulling away in the second half to win by 15-20.

USD's problem this year is the same as SDSU's in their first year: Beating them doesn't 'count' as a win over a D-1 team. Next year USD will be a 'counter' and while scheduling won't be fun, it will be significantly easier.

                ---

I don't think Iowa State =should= beat SDSU by 25-30; I don't think they're that good (or SDSU that bad). IMO it =should= be a 10 point game, and the Jackrabbit fanatic in me says '10 points either way', while the more realistic side of me says, "What? are you nuts? ISU by 10"

Are you kidding me?? Here's who USD has on its schedule this year of D-I teams of any note: Cornell, Cincinnati and Notre Dame. (Oh wait, I forgot Chowan University, Post, Graceland, Panhandle State, Dana, Palm Beach Atlatic, Lake Erie and William Penn -- that will give you eight to match SDSU's first year's opponents listed below.)

Here's who was on our comparative year's schedule: Central Florida, Colorado, Butler, Manhattan, UW-Milwaukee, Marquette, Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee State, San Diego State and Arkansas.

There is absolutely no comparison...but then I wouldn't have expected your insight to include any factual support.

Well, based on the way teams seem to shoot against SDSU, if they got a kid that has any chance of stroking it from downtown, he will. For some reason, it seems like every team SDSU plays has at least one guy that'll absolutely go off, and shoot for like 85%. (Or it sure seems like that high of a percentage.)

I think it will be best for everybody's blood pressure if discussions referencing USD were not held in SDSU game threads.

Thank you, Filbert, for mentioning that. It seems a lot of threads head to the south. Let's just talk SDSU!

For the record. You didn't play Arkansas, but rather Arkansas State. In addition to those you mentioned, you had Buena Vista, Bellevue, Upper Iowa, SW Minnesota, Winona, Mich. tech, Mayville, and (2) teams from Puerto Rico.

I am again not railroading your team, but everytime someone says something somewhat negative, out comes the Coyote bashing. I actaully pull for State. Good luck tonight, I will be there.
