I guess this is where I am, too.

We just ran a team out of Frost Arena. Yeah, they're a transitional D-I team, but they're a counter, and beggars (like the men's program is right now) can't exactly be choosers.

This was a good night. We shall see if it translates into anything more.

      Something worked, tonight.
I'm not trying to discount what the players did tonight, but that was a very bad team. I'm thrilled about a blowout,i'm just not ready to give Nagy credit for it.

Sorry, guess that's a voluntary decision.

Maybe I'm wrong and there have been other games where we have jumped on the opposing team early and laid it on with a full team effort.

I'm giving the credit to the team for coming out of the slump.

Maybe, just maybe, Nagy supplied the catalyst for that, if so good job. Curious to hear the post game comments.

              Nagy:
This is our best team win, our kids were really involved from the start. It was nice to see it didn't matter who start--the kids on the bench were just as involved. I liked the pace, we pushed the ball hard, we scored more points, we had more life, the players had fun. Let's don't make the Denver thing happen again for us to play this way.

We got off to a good start, kids had a lot of energy. The key is holding them to 39% and outrebounding them by 11.

The nice thing was to bring Clint and Kai and those guys off the bench. Clint will probably come off the bench the rest of the year, and Kai played with real confidence tonight. I asked Clint and Kai to go out and challenge the team--challenge them to play harder than you will, and you tell yourself that it won't happen. We need those guys to be our hardest workers.

Halftime talk, we talked about the 8 turnovers, but our kids aren't used to playing at that pace. We talked about not letting those guys get back in. We did a good job in second half shooting our freethrows when we had the lead, we didn't let them get any closer. With about 11 minutes left you could tell the game was over.

The guy we did a good job on was Blakely, held him to 5 points, he's their leading scorer. Got good minutes from Engen, need to get more from him.

The nice thing is we play Sunday and Tuesday, we'll be through the exams, we'll take tomorrow off and by Thursday, most guy's exams will be over and they'll be feeling good about it. I'm going down and shopping with my wife tomorrow.

I don't want to see Denver happen again, I want our kids to play hard and be able to look themselves in the mirror.
Dang, the guy talks fast sometimes . . .

Few and far between. Let's leave the bickering for another time and thread and relish the victory. Could this be the turn around for this team? The next few will tell. Let's hope it is.

I think one of the bitter lessons of our D-I experience is that you don't know what the "breakout game" is until a few more games down the road.

Maybe the Jacks (coaches and players) learned something important tonight. I hope so, and I hope they can carry it forward. Two monumentally tough road games for our program coming up against UNI and ISU . . . it would be cool to steal one of them, but then, just playing two tough 40-minute games is all we can ask for right now.

UNI is 5-5. Uphill struggle, but based on past years, is winnable.
ISU is 6-3, beat UNI in OT 71-66.

I guess my expectation is an 0-2 weekend and my hope is that both games are within 15. My wildest hope is that we steal one or the other of the games.

                    Baby steps . . .

Thing I like the most about the game tonight was the 12 assists in the first half. That was a very good half of play. Hustle for the rebounds was excellent. Opening up a 20+ point lead in the first half was huge and keeping it the rest of the game was good. Free throw shooting for most of the players was really good tonight. Best play for me tonight was Kai driving in the second half for a nice little jumper about the free throw line. Nice to see that instinct back.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Yeah...just got in from moving snow to find we were up pretty good. Maybe a little knee-jerk calling it a breakout game, but only time will tell.

The thing that was there tonight which really hasn't been there until tonight is the overall energy, especially on offense. There just seemed to be a lot more motion away from the ball, a lot better passing, guys on the floor looking like they knew what they were trying to do.

Still with an asterisk due to the strength of competition, but it was nice to see.

Breakout or not a break out, not sure either. I do recall that last years two consecutive losses to San Jose State and then to CSU-Bakersfield seem to have taken the wind out of our sails for the rest of the season, and I recall Nagy making a comment to that effect. So now, its one game at a time. Winning can be a catchy thing, so lets continue to hope.

Listened to much of the game in the car tonight. Sure was nice building up and holding a big lead.

I scanned through the posts on this thread but didn't see (may've missed it) the attendance report. How good/bad was it?

                                1,080 or thereabouts.

About time for the guys to start winning, in other words.
