SDSU had some nice runs the first half and wasn't patient enough to chip away to build a larger lead and seemed each time it was 11 or 13 many long forced shots were taken allowing Centenary back into the game. Kai needs to establish himself on the floor and be more assertive. He seriously looks disinterested and for a kid with his ability lays back and is not aggressive. He had one dribble drive to the paint the second half, split the defense and made a nice 10 foot pull up jumper, the only one of it's kind all night long. Looked to me that he could get that shot at will. As for boards he had five total late in the second half. Centenary played a lot of zone at times and didn't key on Kai. Yes, it's great the team doesn't need to rely on him but against better teams, someone needs to lead this team.

Too many unforced errors last night by the guards at times could have spelled doom. Casey was solid the first half, got into foul trouble and sat most of the second half. Parcala needs to tighten up. He was too loose with the ball, too many long one handed passes during crunch time and played little defense. Centenary guards were stronger, quicker and bigger.

AC was outstanding. He played with emotion and did the dirty stuff in the paint...nice double/double from him...now make all the freethrows and he's on the court at the end....Dale Moss..impressed, solid effort. Plays hard...gave a much needed lift when he entered the game. Callahan missed some big shots but provided much needed scoring. He was solid and played hard as well.

Impressed the most with the teams ability to rebound. Everyone seemed to work hard blocking out and hitting the glass...especially at the end. Limited Centenary to one shot and was able to convert on free throws to blow open a close game. Again, three athletes from Centenary fouled out and the final score was in doubt with a minute left in the game.

Saturday night it gets much tougher.....last night was a good win for the SDSU men...string some together and the team will build confidence, but there are some flaws.

Here is the bottom line....Time to step up Kai...he needs to play to his ability as he has tremendous talent.....great players might have obstacles such as tough defense but they still find a way to compete. Kai last night did not compete...it is painful to watch and no other way to put it he was an absolute NON FACTOR! SDSU needs and will continue to need a front line player/leader and right now it's missing one. Kai might be the answer but it won't get done doing what he did last night.
You hit it on the head!

Hey, we're tied for the lead in the Summitt League! Been a long time since we could say that. Not putting the cart in front of the horse but just an observation. Saturday is a much bigger test.

I listened on the radio last night and was encouraged. Also, it was nice to see the comments here. We won one with Kai being a non-factor. That's BIG NEWS. I expect him and Sargent to both come back strong Saturday night. There has got to be some confidence starting to build. Another home game is just what they need.

Let's all get out of the cold and into Frost Arena Saturday night!

I loved the effort and was thrilled with the win but:

It appeared Kai and Clint decided not to show up last night. I'll give Clint a little credit as he played pretty good defense. Nagy did the right thing by cutting back on Clint's minutes, but why he didn't Kai's is puzzling. Kai ended up with more minutes than anybody (37). Both players seemed lethargic.

Dale came in,gave them some energy, and did what he does best; crashed the boards and got some put backs. He also made most of his free throws.

A.C. was a beast down low, played tough, really played well.

I do think you have to put Anthony's and Dales game in perspective though. That was one of the only teams we face where we match up size wise.

Garrett only made one fg in the second half but made a bunch of free throws at the end... another solid game.

        On to Nagy:
6 minutes to go, we have the ball, up by 9, and we start playing milk the shot clock?2 bad possesions and a turnover later and their within 2. If you're gonna preach that"these kids need to know that they can win" than let them! We had our foot on their throats ,let these guys finish them.

If we are gonna hang with O.R. we are gonna have to cut down on turnovers and our 2nd and 3rd leading scores have to show up

I believe the same thing. No one would stop him if he drove the hoop. Kai handles the ball and can out jump anyone. Maybe he is thinking too much about team play (again just a thought).

I wasn't able to make the game last night but will be there on Saturday. It was nice to see we don't have to have great games from Kai and Clint (I don't want to see that too often though :-) ) and be able to rely on AC and Dale to pick up some of the scoring.

I think both Kai and Clint could have a lot of success with that 10 footer as they both elevate so well, it's also a high percentage shot.

I could hear the Centenary coaches yelling "Home Cookin'". I think they were right. We got all the calls when we needed them.

I was hoping someone else notice how high Clint gets on some of those rebounds. The guys got some hops to him. It could be the reason he is pretty confident when he posts up against other guards.

Officiating wasn't a factor......Paul Jansen is a Big 10 and other major conference official....Justin Ingalls is the best our state has to offer....the 3rd guy not sure who he was but officiating wasn't a huge factor. Centenary just was not very good. They are rumored to be heading to DIII soon.

Garrett has no problems taking the ball to the hoop and he's smaller and arguably not as talented as Kai. That's my main issue. No one's asking Kai to start casting 3's just for the sake of taking shots. I think everyone wants to see him drive to the hoop, draw some fouls and hit the boards on missed shots. Dale had 12(?) rebounds last night with significantly less minutes and giving up 3 inches on Kai. By asking for him to be aggressive, I think that is what people hope to see from Kai. Get a couple fouls for trying too hard for a rebound or even an offensive charge now and then. He is a big talent, but plays like a 3rd option a lot of the time. It's frustrating as a fan to watch. When we needed big buckets tonight it was Garrett taking the ball to the hoop and drawing fouls. Kai was barely an afterthought. Just my thoughts.

That's about when I started screaming "Attack!" and "Be Aggressive!" from the stands when the Jacks were on offense. It looked to me like at least Callahan heard me and agreed.

I was there and let me just say a few things. Our offense looks a lot better on the radio than it does in person. What I witnessed last night from both teams set back offensive play at the DI level considerabley.

Both teams put forth a decent defensive effort but the main factor was a lack of offensive creativity, poor execution and court awareness and a lack of aggressiveness on the part of several of our best players. AC was a beast, they couldn't match up with him. The only guys who went to the hole consistently were Garrett and Dale and they had success! They were out on our guys on the perimeter and yet no one would go by them, draw, and dish. Many times on the break guys kept the ball on the dribble until the defense was set. Outlet, pass it up the floor (give it up), find a seam and get it back.

We made 30 free throws and scored 71 points. Our offense, for the most part, was painful to watch last night.

All that aside, a win is a win and we all know its got to be a better effort Saturday. I have no doubt it will be. ORU has got to be one heck of a lot better than Centenary.

I respectfully disagree. Centenary had quicker athletes than we did and I feel that is why Kai and Clint were not able to successfully take them off the dribble. They put their best defenders on are studs.

I have to agree with Cadsev and JackMD. In person, that was the ugliest "win" I have ever seen. I thought our offense looked horrible. Also, I agree with Cadsev that Kai could have beaten his man off the dribble whenever he wanted. He just caught the ball and immediately looked to pass. He didn't even provide the impression that he would shoot or take someone off the dribble. I'm convinced he could have had 20 if he was aggressive the other night. Let's hope if was just an off night for Kai and he starts to realize some of that unlimited potential.

Exactly my point, it was an awful game to watch in person. Like someone said, our offense "looks" a lot better on the radio. Our defense, however, was stifling in the first half.
