SDSU rape trial begins Dec. 11

The trial for two former SDSU basketball players charged with raping a student at the school is set to begin Dec. 11 with jury selection.
Andre Gilbert, 20, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., was indicted in June on one count of first-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree rape. One count accuses him of accomplishing an act of sexual penetration, or ******l intercourse, with the victim by the use of force. The other alleges he forced her to perform fellatio.
Each count carries a maximum punishment of 25 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
Mohamed Berte, 23, of Ivory Coast, is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of aiding and abetting second-degree rape and one count of sexual contact.
The first three counts are felonies that are each punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. The fourth count is a misdemeanor that has a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Both pleaded guilty to the charges and are free on personal recognizance.
A trial was originally scheduled for August.

Did I miss something here? Why are they going to trial if they pleaded guilty? I gotta think the Register messed up??
Yes very much a typo. I recall " Not Guilty" in all the other articles. One can only wonder what is going on in lawyer offices and why a later date was set. :-/
hmmmmmm wonder why December :. Oh I know why just can't say why.
I'm no expert, but I would guess the date was picked by the two sides and the judge depending on availability. Just my guess. That's usually how those things work.
