    Re: 06-07 roster

A little known fact here, Schuetz's nickname was "skinny".  He was a good player and could he jump, but he did get shoved around by the big boys.

Sammy, can I get another frosty mug full of nectar! [smiley=beer.gif]

I heard some horror stories regarding Zack Carter as a senior forcing young freshman DL and LB's to sit with him and eat with him in Larson Commons.  Maybe we can bring him back as a "Nutritional Enhancment Coach" for these two.[/quote]

Zach had a way of convincing people to do things he asked them to do. The funny thing is, he's a gentle giant most of the time. Just don't get him mad. Hands down, he is the strongest man I have ever met.\

Bottom line, those two need to do some eatin.

Looks like we'll be really hurting for size this year. If Berte isn't with the team, than that leaves only 2 players over 6'6". And those 2 players are unproven and skinny as a rail.

          Re: 06-07 roster

My basketball knowledge is severely limited but I would assume 6'10 or bigger players that can move don't fall to our level. I would bet you don't see alot on mid-major rosters at all. If I remember correctly when Butler came in they were very small and moved and shot the lights out. Maybe that is what we are working toward.

My pops saw one of the big kids play in high school. I forget which one (wanna say Bilitz) but he was very impressed with him. He said he was much quicker than he would have anticipated. He did say he needed to work on his size.

              I like quick.

We're not ever going to be a banging, bruising, phyisical Big East or Big 10 team. We need to recruit speed, shooting, and smarts IMHO to be successful in D-I.

Do you mean he hasn't stopped growing?  (Or you hope he will grow more?) How does one work on size?

I have heard that Engen is VERY aggressive and will impress.

Of course the proof will not be known until the men take the floor against an opponent.

Exactly as gojacksgo said. Eat and lift weight. Put on some pounds. That sort of thing. The player my dad saw was the one from the Minneapolis area if that helps. He was up there watching Roosevelt play when Krabbenhoft was still there. I guess one of our guys was in the same holiday tourney or something like that.
