This does free up a scholarship though, I hope Nagy finds a JUCO PF or center for next season with it.  We have another two freshman guards coming in, a JUCO on the front lines would help us more than anything else right now.  All the guy needs to do is be able to rebound.
I think it has less to do with playing time and more to do with last season.  PT could have been a tipping point though.  I agree, it is frustrating.[/quote]

I was told it had everything to do with playing time. Cam supposedly told Nagy that he is not a sitter. I feel he was a liability on defense and I don't think he was a good enough shooter to offset that.

      Re: Utah State

Players want to play and if he feels he can get on the floor quicker somewhere else than good luck to him. I'm sure he looked at his options with the Jacks and saw a freshman point guard in Callahan and a sophmore shooting guard in Cadwell and a couple of tall athletic guards coming in next year and determined his minutes would be limited. I don't know what his practice habits were like, but I always thought Hornby could be that spark off the bench who could light it with a few three's. I hope his departure does not ignite another one.

One other comment on the USU game:

LOVE THat YELLOW UNI!!!!! I don't know if they pulled them out for a big home game or what, but they looked awesome, I hope we see more of them this year.

Broadcast said they were brand new.

            You could be entirely correct.

I also hope that no other players leave. If we can hold this team together for a couple of years, they will be very solid when Cadwell is a senior, and even next year, it should be a very good team. All the guys need is to develop a little more, and if they keep going at the rate they are, we'll be in good shape. I just hope the tough times right now don't discourage them.

                Re: Utah State

Losing Cam hurts a little even though he hasn't played much this year. All it would take is 1 injury and he would have seen significant minutes. Maybe not a lot of minutes, but important minutes.

I wish him well in whatever he does.

                  Bluehatman,

You've got to do me a huge favor...here it is:

You've GOT to get the word to the students in the "SDSU student section" to absolutely not wear anything resembeling the color RED anymore. I saw about three of them Wednesday night. It just can't happen anymore with the "current landscape", especially in the student section!!

I've got a great Dr. Oien story for you regarding this:
A lady that works/ed for the Athletic department chose to wear a red sweater to work one day a bunch of years back. Dr. Oien very nicely informed her that she should go home and find another color sweater to wear, she thought he was joking....he was not.
This is always been my ultimate example of STATE pride!!

If you look in my closet you will not find ONE thread of red cloth of any kind, and I plead to the rest of my Jack-loving brethern, if you have any red clothing in your closet, let the burn barrel burn this weekend!!

So if you can do this for me BHt.M you'd would be more the man in my book than you already are!!
                  SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

                    Re: Utah State

Yeah, but when I go home to cheer on my Arlington Cardinals, I kinda need some red. Never to a Jacks game, never.

                      Re: Utah State

The most red I have is high school stuff because the Bobcat colors are Red and black and Dale Jr. shirts because red is his color. Mostly white, blue and yellow clothes in my closet. And the occassional dead coyote.

Pretty tough to get rid of the red when I teach and coach at a school with red as its color.  As with 1st row - you will never see me wear red to a State game!  As my name says I am trueblue- blue will always be my favorite color!

This stat really summarized the game. I was there with my family as well as a couple of friends. All of us former or current BB players and one a current coach. Try not to regard these observations as negative, just my educated opinions.

Utah St. played the second half without a sense of urgency until the last 8 minutes. Then they went to the 3/4 court zone press and the 1-3-1 zone and shut us down easily. We had no real chance to win that game.

One recurring theme was the poor decision making and execution by the Jacks. Players dribbling the ball into corner traps, not setting solid screens, not coming of screens properly, trying to enter the ball to the post from the top of the key (no angle), playing post defense from the side, not closing out under control, not running OB plays properly, etc... We all agreed that since Nagy took over this is the most challenging team he has had.

The most striking thing is the lack of a "team" feeling. I only see one guy on the court who definitely makes those around him better, Loney. Callahan is brand new so I can't comment on him yet. You need players who form a team that is better than the individuals that make up that team. The Jack's men don't have that right now.

I didn't see any progress in the Utah St. game. When they needed to shut us down they did. Nagy felt it was tired legs and brains after 4 tough games. I guess we will see.
