  • 2008-2009 Non-Conference Schedule

Does anybody know where we stand with 08-09 for non-conference games? I have heard the rumors with U of Wyoming but other then that I don't know..... Nagy made it sound like he would like not to play Idaho 2 times next year when he made it known it was them that wanted to reschedule...

Here is who we played last year

    Minnesota
    Cal State-Bakersfield
    Northern Iowa
    San Jose
    Denver
    Idaho
    Montana
    UW-Milwaulkee
    UW-Green Bay

speculating I would guess that we would probably continue to play Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and one of the Wisconsin schools next year, if I had to guess I would guess that the contract with 2 California schools involved a return trip but thats a guess. I would guess that we won't be playing Montana next year (contract ended, still upset with football, and the fact that it would be hard to get them with a home and home and they aren't worth a 2-1)

I would love to see a Drake game on next years schedule, beings there will be two South Dakota boys on that team.

I'm waiting to start seeing the schedule too because I'm hopeful that this team can win half of their games next year. I hope that's not too much to ask.

The biggest thing is they need to improve in the conference enough to get into that Summit League tournament in Sioux Falls. That'll be a great few days. I've saving a couple of vaction days for this historic event in South Dakota sports!

If anyone wants to check the confernce schedules for many sports, there is a future schedules link on the Summit League web site.

Not bad, move 2hrs west of Ames and in a little over a year get to see both the FB and MBB teams play there. A few W's would sweeten the deal.

                            Re: 2008-2009 Non-Conference Schedule

I found this thread on the College Sports Information board which lists the teams in the Mens tournament in Cancun. As I understand the tournament format, we will play two of the "host" teams at their place before the tournament and two of the "visiting" teams in Cancun.

                            http://ncaasports.proboards10.com/in...5&page=1#39980

                            Cancun Tournament Field
                            Host Teams:
                            VCU (RPI 54)- CAA
                            Drake (RPI 10)- MVC
                            New Mexico (RPI 59)- MWC
                            Vanderbilt (RPI 12)- SEC

                            Away Teams:
                            SDSU (RPI 330)- Summit League
                            Grambling (RPI 328)- SWAC
Northern Arizona (RPI 139)-Big Sky Conference
                            Central Arkansas (RPI 280)-Southland Conference

This probably wraps up the schedule for this year assuming the poster on the College Sports Info board is accurate with his/her information.

                              Tournament Format:
The Cancun Challenge is an eight team event with all participants playing
four games. Four teams will host two games each at their home site and
four teams will travel to play at two of these host institutions. All teams,
regardless of the outcome of their first two games, will travel to Cancun to
play their two final games. The four host schools will play each other while
the four visiting schools will be paired against each other.
