Dang it.....I knew there was something we kept forgetting to tell all of our recruits. Guess that explains why they all keeping transferring.

I think that 's a great idea let's try to stay positive, this week has been trying for many of us

      especially some of the players.
Others have quoted you but I had to too. Perfect comment. I do wish Steve was still with the Jacks, but I still like the guys on this team. Hope you enjoy your time in Brookings for the games (and hope we give you some nice weather while you are here).
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

I think that is a fair question to ask, I know plenty of athletes D-I, D-II and NAIA and they all say that when they recruited they weren't told how much work it actually was going to be in areas other then the court/field/track....

Good grief. Do you really think they needed to be told?

Good story. Totally fair topic. We're not in fourth grade anymore, and plenty of us have talked about the what-if scenario over a beer or two.

All of them are topics from the past, and the past cannot be changed. "What if.." is the start of a discussion that really leads nowhere.

Well there are many what if's......If Kai had chosen Eastern Kentucky over SDSU I would not have gotten to know so many nice folks in Brookings and that would be a shame...

If Steve and Matt had stayed maybe there would not have been a Scholarship for Kai and that would have been another shame so come on folks big day tomorrow let's concentrate on that shall we

Yes some do, but I think with study tables and other things that are contained in the certification process, I think the academics part is thoroughly explained and there probably are not any questions. If Joeboe had attended the certification open forums, he would not have asked these questions. Academics for student athletes are at a higher level than you would find at any D2 or NAIA school. Its because of the Knight Commission that was passed by D1 members that require the adminstration and faculty to be involved in maintaining the academic standards required by D1 members. To me this was the biggest surprise of the D1 classification. D2 and NAIA can still cut corners and interpret the NCAA rules their way and probably get a way with it.

I think most of our young people who are fortunate to receive a scholarship for athletics realize they have an advantage. What an advantage it is. In my work, already two students have wanted to file their taxes quickly in order to apply their refund against this coming semester tuition. The tax season has hardly started.

I think each and every transfer out is a separate story. People always change their minds about a number of things. Thats a freedom we still have and practice daily. Who of us as adults have not had buyer's remorse about a major purchase? Why would student athletes 18-22 be different?

This time last year Kai was really unhappy, he was terribly homesick, and was ready to come home, we sat down and talked and talked and talked........we made pro's/ con lists, but if that's what he had really wanted he would not be there now, he had just hit the wall, and needed to talk and figure things out, it is a huge jump from High School to DIV 1 BBALL at 18 years of age 11 hours driving distance away from home...

I am in total agreement Mrs Williams. I think Kai's picture will be in SDSU media guides for decades into the future as I feel he will break some SDSU records before his career is complete.

                      Re: TV's Article on Holdren

This started with a post that basically said if we were 10-5 they wouldn't run a "what if" article. I disagree. The "what if" would have been could they have won any of the other five? Could they have been closer in the other games? Terry was in IL for the games and I expected some type of coverage of this as soon as the schedule came out. I expect objectivity from him, and not to be a cheerleader for the team. That means there will be articles that address things that have not worked out.

At times this thread has really drifted from the original topic.

Yes!! if TV had not written the article there would not have been a thread

Anyway, that being said, the article was a good, lets hope he continues writing articles shall we

Coming from a college student who lives farther then he would like from home I know how it feels, I don't want to leave but if something happened I would and I'm not even an athlete. I get sick of tired of people on this board coming on here and pretty much trashing kids who transfered out. Does anybody like when they here a kid has transfered out of any school? NO but you have to understand why they did it.... If you grew up in Illinois and your dream all your life was to play for the Illini and you had your chance I think you would too.... Lets be honest if Holdren would of had the chance out of high school to go to Illinois he would of....
