    3.  Bassett
    4.  Beran
    5.  Callahan
    6.  Yackley (not on Scholarship)
    7.  Engen
    8.  Loney

    11. McKenzie (not on scholarship)

      1) Is Hoogeveen a true walk-on, or has he been promised a scholarship at some point in the future?
      2) Berte's staus should be known after this semester, but it sounds like he'll play.
      3) We supposedly have two scholarships to give out, but I'm not sure if Berte is included at this time.

I have been told that Berte will play. If he was not going to play, why would he be practicing every day with the team now.

Basketball is a sport that with just a couple of key additions you can change the makeup of your team and outlook very fast. It's been well documented we need a big bruising 6'8-6'10 power forward/center. I think we also need a blazing point guard that change the tempo of the game and keep the defense honest by getting to the basket or get hot from behind the line and hound the opposing point guard. Jose Frias has provided this the second half of the year. I think we will find both of these players in the JC ranks.

The name Jabril Banks seems to ring a bell to me for some reason but not sure why.

This is a link to the Indian Hills CC website where Jabril Banks plays. Believe that is where Berte played. Another guy to watch is Robert Eppinger who is just a freshman on the team. The 6'7 forward played his senior year at Patrick Henry in Minneapolis.

Another JC school to watch is Iowa Western in Council Bluffs: Antoine Dade a 6'7 Sophmore Center may be an option.

Landing a player or two like that along with the players already in the program and returning and this thing could turn around in a hurry!

I'm an optimist! This is going to happen and it will be sweet!

Just as a little heads up Indian Hills CC is the #1 ranked team in the country and is undefeated on the year.

Warriors Move into Top Spot in Division I Poll

(Feb. 13) -- Fresh off a 96-43 pasting of Northeast (NE) Community College on Monday night, the Indian Hills Warriors are the top-ranked team in the nation in the new NJCAA Division I poll released today. The Warriors, second in the national poll the last three weeks, replaced Redlands CC from Oklahoma as the No. 1 team after Redlands lost an overtime decision to Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Monday. . . . Think Nagy's remarks that his best DII teams would have won about 17 games on this schedule is interesting.

I always thought there were lots of good small men in DII, and that the major differences were in power forwards and centers at DI. Finding the good 6-8/ 6-10 player is going to be critical. Agree that the community college route is the best place to look.

Berte is still on scholarship and just attending classes.
