    Re: UW-Green Bay

81-84 about a half minute. Win or lose, this is a team that will win some games in the Summit.

Happy with the effort and competitiveness. I think we need to play a little slower pace. I agree, we will be at least a decent team and win some conference game.s

Man this is a tough loss. Just didn't have an answer for Fletcher the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half. I thought we played really well tonight, just got caught by a hot hand down the stretch.

If we would have played this well against Montana I think we would have won the game by 15-20 points. We should do well in Summit League play I think, we lost to a good team tonight.

Dang. But Jacks were in it all the way, and 10 players contributed. Those are good signs. This team will compete every night and win more than fans have been accustomed to the last couple of years.

Another strong effort by the Jacks.

UWGB is very athletic, and it showed in those two runs that erased our big leads. We just didn't have an answer for their athleticism. Callahan couldn't handle Fletcher at all. Kai's foul trouble hurt us. Loney gives a nice spark, and can shut down slower players like that giant from UNI, but he really struggles defending athletes like the Phoenix put on the floor.

Those are the kinds of games we'll have to win in the future to be considered a solid mid-major. But you have to be happy with the progress already this year.
                Holy nutmeg!

Fletcher killed us. Credit to him. He just couldn't miss. Excellent job by the Jacks. Rebounded well in the 2nd half. Losing Kai with 4 fouls at the 13 minute mark hurt. Shot very well but just couldn't stop them. We'll win games at Frost against teams like this very soon, I have no doubt. Good game, get them next time.

I remember Nagy saying that his best DII teams could have won about 17 games last year. Given that these guys are so young, I assume they could easily get to that level-- or beyond when fully mature. We just need to hold on to them.

                        Re: UW-Green Bay

Thought the Jacks played very good tonight. They were in it all the way. GB was too athletic and that Fletcher was a killer. It is disappointing, but look where we were even a year ago. We are in the games and could win most of them. It is nice to have the depth and playing a lot of freshman and sophomores. Future is looking up.

Sounds like Nagy's going to be running a lot of defense drills this week . . .

Nagy is intense tonight. He wants to see better defense and better rebounding. I agree with him. Shut down defense wins championships.

Centenary beat Texas Tech we have a big task on our hands next game.

                              Re: UW-Green Bay

I read a piece in the Fargo Forum this week about the Bison not playing good defense and because of that they did not win in Green Bay. (I dont have the link.)

We seemed to have the same problem with certain individuals such as Fletcher. I dont know what he scored against NDSU, but if we could have shut him down, SDSU would probably have won.

No doubt about it in my mind, I dont think the SDSU Jacks will finish last in the Summit League. If our guys continue to gel as a unit and several step on the scoring, and maybe find ways to stop the big guns like Fletcher, we will do much better than expected.
