BROOKINGS - To put it simply, the South Dakota State men lost Saturday night. But it was much more complex than that.
Hot off their most lopsided victory against an established NCAA Division I program and seeking the first three-game win streak in their own brief Division I history, the Jackrabbits didn't perform well enough to beat Wisconsin-Green Bay. But they played too well - and against a club that clubbed them last season - to be devastated about an 88-81 defeat before a crowd of 1,434 at Frost Arena.
"Everybody knows we let one slip away," coach Scott Nagy said. "I think the people that are playing us understand that we're not bums anymore and we have people they have to prepare for."
Offensively, SDSU (3-3) was dynamic, shooting 53 percent from the floor with nine 3-pointers, dishing out 21 assists on 29 field goals and committing a season-low eight turnovers. All against a Horizon League team that has twice held an opponent to 50 points or less.
