I know from various Juco sites the Jacks have been watching a couple of teamates from Kankakee Community College. They are Menji Mundadi a 6'2 2 guard who can shoot the three well and Seven Ezumba 6'7 220 forward who is originally from Nigeria who can play on the perimiter and is considered a great athlete. Here is a link to their team website.

Jabril Banks from Indian Hills Community College is going to Northern Colorado along with a fellow teammate.

Does anyone else think #54 Andrew Hunt on the Kankakee roster looks a little like Andy Cone? Same size!

George Castanza would be pretty upset that somebody stole the name he picked out.

Menji Mundadi looks like he would be a really good get.  He is a 2006-07 NJCAA Honorable mention All-Americans who has drawn interest from Iowa State, Miami of Ohio, Loyola Chicago, and Chicago State.

South Dakota State University signed Colorado high school prospect Josh Cassaday to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday, indicating his plans to enroll at SDSU next fall and participate in the men’s basketball program.

A 6-6, 180lb, forward/guard from Aurora, Colo., Cassaday averaged 19 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game during his senior year in earning Centennial league Player of the Year honors. In addition, he earned first-team all-league, first-team all-city and second-team all-state. Cassaday also earned most valuable player honors at the 2007 Tournament of Champions.

In addition to his on the court skills, Cassaday excels in the classroom as an honor roll student

Not the 7 footer some had hoped for, but sounds like another athletic kid with some range.

He is not the recruit that has been talked about previously, as that recruit was in the 08 class. I assume we will see our other taller "colorado friend" sign a Letter of Intent in the Novermber signing period as he wouldn't have been allowed to sign now.

With nowhere to go but up after breaking the school record for losses, the South Dakota State men’s basketball team went to the Rocky Mountains to find its latest recruit.

The Jackrabbits signed 6-foot-6 guard/forward Josh Cassaday from Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, Colo., their first recruit from Colorado since Mitch Lane in 1991.

Cassaday averaged 19.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists this season, earning player of the year honors in the Centennial Conference and second-team all-state Class 5A awards from the Denver Post. He helped Smoky Hill to a record of 22-4. The club lost in the state quarterfinals to eventual champion Denver East and was ranked third in one postseason poll. . . . (read more)

                              Signing day stuff

In keeping with a developing theme, there will be little substance today, just jottings from Day 1 of the late signing period. Apparently, that’s how I roll.

New SDSU men’s basketball signee Josh Cassaday said that his style is similar to Dirk Nowitzki’s. No, the Coloradoan didn’t compare himself to the German Wonder, rather he meant that he is a tall (by college standards) and can shoot, handle, drive and post up. (For the record, he’s also well-spoken.) Jacks coach Scott Nagy said that Cassaday is less than athletic than true freshman standout Kai Williams, but can handle and pass like a point guard. The idea of having those two as 6-6 bookends is intriguing. “I was really thinking about that when I made my decision,” said Cassaday, who stayed with Williams during his campus visit. ”It’s going to be really fun to play with him. He’s a phenomenal basketball player.” . . . (read more)

Here is the only pic I could find of Josh, it isn't very good but it will have to do for now.

                                http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drm...277844,00.html

Josh Cassaday, center, of Smoky Hill, is sandwiched by Mullen's Mike Barry, left, and Terrance Dent on Friday evening. Cassaday scored 21 points to lead the Buffaloes to a 57-51 victory.

In another story, the Rocky Mountain News said:

"Smoky creates matchup problems with everyone, because Josh Cassaday is a 6-6 kid who shoot well outside and also can drive."

Looks like a pretty good get!  8-)
