Stoney isn't going with Hendo. He committed to UTA, who finished 13-18. Have to wonder if he wanted to get closer to home.

Wait, there are those who insist that Drake is not a better job. Do you mean to say that doubling a person's salary is an improvement? That would be heresy.

Dang. I hope it's not Rogers and Washington State all over again, but it's beginning to look that way.

all this is fine. the MV can be ranked higher. as I stated before, WHAT good is being in a higher ranked league if your teams do not get in the tourney? as things are, and if they continue on that trend, there will be no more than 5 or 6 leagues getting at large bids

seems like we have more or less beaten this one to the ground. Hendo is gone. if he is happy GREAT for him and congratulations!! big thanks for everything

The mid-major label is gone. The P4 are going to garner nearly all of the at large.

The P4 and Big East have every at large bid but 4. The 4 bids went to two other conferences Big West (1) and MWC (3).

If the Jacks end up with a similar record as either of those teams, they aren't considered for an at large. That is why Drake is a 'better' program, its potential.

Correct, or not, the MoValley has a lot more panache the Summit League.

I do believe Hendo is a good recruiter and a good coach and I expect he will do fine, but I dont know if he is gonna go to more tourneys or get rushed to a P4 job.

    Let’s go coach Peterson!!

The discussion that this is a lateral move is laughable. When was the last time the Summit got an 11 seed in the NCAA tournament or had a coach hired by a P4 team?

Some reporting suggests there is a $275k buyout, and merging your other topic, it would be interesting if SDSU could get creative and say that they'd rescind that if Drake agrees to a home game in Brookings (this would also seem to negate any case other conference/league foes would try to make that a scheduling agreement would be an unfair Jacks advantage).

but it is the institution that wants to hire the coach. so Drake Prez and AD come after Hendo and you say okey dokey that is certainly your choice to make and obviously we think you are making a great choice. Hendo is awesome, BUT his contract does require the school that hires him to come to brookings for 2 years. pleasure doing business with you
I'd be curious how leagues/conferences would view that. For instance, would other Summit League teams assert that the Jacks and Drake are essentially colluding to strengthen their own non-conference schedules, with teams like NDSU and USD lacking the same opportunities?

Having said that, the case could be made for agreeing to a Summit Invitational with USD playing teams like Nebraska and Green Bay and the Jacks playing teams like Wright State and Drake. SDSU would almost certainly be viewed more favorably by committees than York & St. Ambrose (whom Drake played last season).
