The program is finally getting some investment from the university in the form of the new arena, but something has to change with on court results. No reason we should be 1-4 right now.

Hopefully Henderson can right the ship and get some excitement back into the program.
    Somebody needs a Snickers!

Have to agree the 1-4 start is disappointing. A lot of new faces, Appel after a year off, and Mims out to start the year doesn't help. There is a lot of talent on this team, they just need some time to gel.

However, just don't see how you can say there is no excitement around the program. The team is picked to win the conference, we have the pre-season player in Zeke Mayo who is one of the most fun players to watch in the nation, and Coach Henderson has done a great job with the team and represented the university with nothing but class. All he has done is go 48-3 in Frost coming into this year. Frost itself is going through a major overhaul which will put it on par with all of the other firs-class facilities at SDSU.

Most schools would kill to be in our situation!

    SUPERBUNNY

    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, BIZUN!!!

What would you like Coach Henderson to do for excitement? What had Coach Nagy or Coach Otzelberger done to create excitement? How are people apathetic? Football is on a roll right now and there is only one game a week. It is easier for people to get excited about that. Once FB is done then I think it will be easier to judge people's opinions/possible apathy. As stated in this thread and other threads- many new pieces and more players for the rotation than we have had in a long time. It takes a little while to get that sorted out. From the little bit of the postgame that I caught it is apparent Coach Henderson isn't happy to be 1-4 either and was open about some things he needs to consider for the end result to be better.

I'm sure the coaching staff and team and most of the fan base don't feel this way.

Really we are 0-4 can’t count naia wins in my opinion. Have to realize who we’ve played at this point. 2 big 12 teams, an A10 team and a top 5 mid major team. When you consider 3 of those losses were very close given the competition there’s absolutely nothing to be worried about. Would you feel better if we paid bottom feeder mid majors and naia teams to come to Brookings and we were 4-0? I know I wouldn’t. Who you play and where you play them makes a huge difference. This is a top summit league team that will look really good against that level of competition.

The team is also this year replacing Alex Ariens & Matt Dentlinger, and is missing the huge contributions of Matt Mims right now. They have a lot of high-Summit League talent but sometimes it takes time for players to settle into new roles--a process not made easier by the fairly high level of competition that they have faced in their D-1 games.

This team WILL get better as the season progresses.

The advantage of Garry being forced into a starter's role is that the team will have an experienced guard to bring off the bench once Mims returns. That's something they didn't have last season, and it should help reduce the minutes that Mayo, Easley and Mims will have to play as the season wears on.
