Baylor Scheierman is THE MAN. This is his team for the next two years. The other guys are along for the ride. And that includes Wilson coming back next year, and Freidel too (I assume he's coming back next year).

Not the entire reason but SDSU 14-21 from the FT line ... ORU was 14-14. ORU played nearly flawless it seemed besides on the glass.

            ORU was out-rebounded by 19.

But they were 14-25 3-pointers, SDSU was 6-14.

SDSU lost the game at two lines: the free throw line and the 3 point line.

Absolutely he knows 100 x more than I do about basketball, but cumulative fatigue over a season is directly related to college and professional athletics, especially decision making in high pressure situations such as a conference tournament. AJ understands this and always tries to keep players minutes below 30 per game, even Macy Miller during the regular season.

I think this is where AJ maintains such a great team year over year even when USD has had the better teams in the past. SDSU was fresher in the conference tourney and AJ brings along young players by getting them meaningful minutes in tight games, such as Maddy V and Byom early in the year.

The less load your star players, especially guards, have over a year leads to improved decision making in high pressure situations.

Wingett clearly cant play from injury and in tournMent time you shortrn the bench. Friedel would have played and mimms wiuld have sat more and easely and apple would have been off the bench. Its more inconsistency that hurt more then anything. The first half oru played more energy and we were sloppy.

... quite fitting the last play of the game was Wilson not elevating to make a play. Something is wrong with his ability to jump in traffic,

If you're not willing to admit there was a considerable difference between the men's and women's overall depth throughout season, any discussion of fatigue or load management is fraught with bias

Completely agree with this. Couple of guys last year could have handled some more minutes too and Hendo just refuses to distribute around more playing time. Hopefully next year will be different. Any word on why Wingett didn't play? Turnovers, missed free throws, point blank misses, lack of defense (90 points) and ORU just shooting at a high level was the difference. Guys played their heart out in the end, but not enough!

He justndoesnt have that explosiveness he had last year. He would oit jump defense to score and got put backs easily because he was quickest off the floor. He probably 85% imho. Still really good and able to. Contribute just not as that elite level as last year.

Plus, there's a wealth of research on implications of overwhelming students without adequate preparation, which more objective folks could cite if they didn't want an excuse to cite their own experience in hazardous industries
You made my poiint. Hendo didn't adequately prepare his bench during the regular season by not getting his end of bench reserves more time.

He knew he had a short bench after Noah went down and needed to very actively monitor minutes. Arians and Baylor both made a lot of poor passes in the first half that dug too big of hole to overcome.

I don't see USD beating this ORU team right now. NDSU...maybe. But you have to out-score the Golden Eagles right now and I really don't think NDSU will be able to do that.

I completely agree. I think going through baylor is our best offense. He can all 3 can take over a game but scheierman has that give me the ball and i can win the game mentality.
