SDSU is close obviously . . . tied to Ohio State in the round of 64 with 2 minutes left, but just unable to seal the deal. What do the Jacks need to add/do better to get over the hump and win a game or two in the tournament?
Ground rules for this thread: Return of Mike Daum and TJ Otzelberger is assumed as a given.
I'll throw these things out for starters:
Schedule a killer non-conference schedule - - - three, four, five or more guarantee games against traditional basketball powers. Get the non-con RPI/Sagarin/Kenpom jacked up as high as it will go, even at the sacrifice of a home non-conference game or two.
Have Daum work hard on speed & agility, and on overall strength in the off season. He's too big to ever really be "quick" but he can improve.
Give Daum front-line players beside him who can take some of the defensive pressure off and absorb fouls Daum would otherwise pick up on defense.
Have Jenkins avoid the "sophomore slump" somehow.
Replace Tellinghuisen somehow.
Pray that four Summit League teams at least can crack the top 100 RPI/Sagarin/Kenpom, and that nobody is wallowing in the 300's.
I could go on, but . . . discuss!
