Perhaps he can conduct a coaching clinic after both games.
Waconia just got beat by O'Gorman 56-22, so there's that...

The offense the first 6 games or whatever when we were in man had no flow and no rotation. It took the staff a while to figure out a rotation, which they're still working on, and it takes a while to build chemistry and play in a new offense. This is all completely acceptable and understandable for a new coaching staff.

The offense is extremely talented, guys. Sometimes it feels like a lot of people sell everyone on the team short besides Daum. Skyler Flatten is a freak athlete with a good shot. Hess is a terrific shooter. Telly is Telly. Wallace has a very useful offensive game. I think the narrative that we need to play zone to keep Daum on the court is mostly a faulty hypothesis. This whole argument is conceding the fact that this current team can't play both normal offense and normal defense. As many people have stated and which evidence supports, you can play both strong man defense and have a good offensive team. Daum can play 30 min a game in man defense and be fine. And which I don't know if many people are realizing is we have plenty of offensive threats to be a good team even with Daum resting on the bench.

Iowa State has been a perpetually bad defensive team, and it was my main concern with Otz coming in. This current team isn't exponentially less athletic than in year's past as to where they aren't physically able to play manageable man defense. That's just silly to think that these guys aren't capable. Man to man defense can be taught with good coaching. It's just disheartening to see Otz shy away from teaching normal, effective defense.

Does the defense (or lack of it) bum me out? Yes. Definitely. It's pathetic. We're turning low-scoring, average shooting teams into record-setters from the three-point line. But goodness, Coach Otz has been here about five minutes. The guy deserves a chance. That said, wasn't Klink the defense guy? Let him coach those guys up on man-to-man so we can at least use it as a changeup defense.
          Holy nutmeg!

Maybe he should sit down and read his own book.

It started out doing this only on our desk-top, and my Chromebook worked fine. Now it does it on both devices. It seems to be a problem on this site only - I post on a couple of other message boards and everything works fine on those. Any suggestions would be appreciated - it bugs the heck out of me to not be able to reply to specific posts.
I get that too but Usually if I do a Ctrl+V (paste) and then delete whatever I pasted in there the space bar Magically works again.

I don't think anyone here is saying Otz doesn't deserve a chance. He absolutely does. He's a rookie head coach with a lot of new pieces. He's going to have a learning curve. Just how it is. Hopefully he can get the defense figured out. If he can't his stay will be short lived.

I'm having the same problem but not 100% of time but when it does happen, very annoying.

Very true. On the defense being figured out part, I think we need to come to terms with the fact that Otz is not as defensively oriented as Nagy was, and that's the way it goes. Honestly I want to see what happens when we get his recruits in and rolling. I'm hoping that the administration has more patience than our fan base, cause if we give him a good shot we could end up with a really exciting brand of basketball, plus I think just off of a more uptempo scheme we could end up with better recruits cause it'll be more appealing. I'm giving him a pass this season, having to replace a front court with jucos late in the recruiting season after they have been mostly picked over isn't a real fair way to judge Otz just yet. If we aren't back on top of the Summit in a year or two I'll be all about being an angry fan, but isn't the normal mantra for most schools with a new coach let's see what he can do with his recruits? Not saying you are campaigning for his demise Montana, but never thought I would see sdsufans go full bisonville this early.

The lack of offensive execution in the 2nd half, led to not getting set into our zone defense. Total system failure.

I think we've weathered far worse storms than this. I think Nagy knew exactly what he had and got the **** out. Smart man, of course it left us ****ed, but, we'll rebound(basketball pun intended). I give the man 2 years to make it good.

Nagy recruited kids that could score the basketball and then coached defense. Defense is effort and we're just not good at it.

I'm in the "WTF are they doing camp" regarding the zone defense, but by no means am I thinking Otz is a bad hire, etc. He definitely lost his composure last night though during that run. I sat right across from the bench and he was super nervous. He's going to learn as a new head coach and there's still a lot of time to get it figured out.
