Ill agree with this. We get a couple more shots to fall in the second half its a different game. I saw improvement. Thats all we need right now.

I thought we looked much better last night. Give it time. I recall NDSU the season following Braun and Company leaving. They struggled early but were (obviously) solid by the end of the season. Everyone needs to relax. The talent is there, it needs to gel and fit into TJ's system. We would be struggling with Nagy right now.

I agree. The defense was inconsistent still, but better. I watched the WYO feed and if that play-by-play guy had said Telling-HOUZZ-uhn or THYSSEN one more time... Because WYO is so big-time there's no need for their pbp guy to study and learn how to pronounce names.

I never saw the oh no we are behind and need to pick it up intensity until about the two minute mark when it was a little to late they a shot in the arm sooner. maybe that comes with experience but i was expecting a run that never came in the second half

            Sounds like progress was made.

Didn't get the result we wanted...but the team is trending the right way. A whole lot of "new" going on. New staff, new players, new schemes... it would be silly to expect us to come in and play well right away.

And... I said this in another thread, I'd almost rather have the early struggles, as opposed to starting the year off doing really well and thinking we're hot stuff, and then crashing to Earth. Gotta build from the ground up!

Agree. We're going to be okay.

The little bit of the game I watched was in the first half was not really impressed, they looked like a below avg in talent and effort. Daum looked fine, and I thought Howell was atleast aggressive driving to the rim. He got some good ones to finish. Doesn't seem like there is a bad time to drive in his mind. Might not be a bad thing since this team is going to take away to figure out its offense. Daum will probably be ok, but others really need to step up. You need a scoring threat some where else and atleast he is aggressive. On defense I thought they might try to trap or press to get some turnovers but sure didn't look that way. We didn't fight hard on D and no hustle on rebounds. That sure was a different look then Nagys teams. Rebounding is pure effort and it didn't look like anyone wanted to crash the boards on a shot. Every one just looked and hoped the person it went closest too would get it. Not trying to sound overly critical but its the first bit of the team that I actually watched this year and only Daum and Howell wanted to do anything on offense from what I saw and no one on defense wanted to raise the intensity.

I would agree with your assessment on most parts. I feel it got worse in the second half. It just seems there is about zero leadership on this team at the moment. With that said I'm firmly behind coach Otz! He is still evaluating what he has to work with and how they fit together. They have played a pretty vanilla style of offense and defense so far which I expect will change as the season goes on. Anybody that didn't think there was going to be a drop off from last year with the players we lost was being unrealistic. I will "trust the process" and look forward to watching this team improve thru the year.

Yeah and I only saw 10-15 minutes of the first half. so not a huge sample size at all. Guard play is the most important part of mid majors. well, that goes for any basketball level really. But you have no chance if you don't have good guards. We lost tons and its all new pieces trying to fit together.

I felt a lot better after watching last game than I did the first three. Still a long ways to go, but there was at least some glimmer of hope.
