It looks like it would be exhausting to be Daum right now. Swarmed.

You can see the struggles the team is having trying to push the pace also. It has looked rushed on multiple possessions.

Good point, they look lost at times.

Not hitting shots again (so far), but the shot selection has been bad. Gentry and Telly just took very deep threes that bricked off the rim. They need to try to get to the rim and to the FT line.

Hopefully they can heat up in the 2nd half

37-23 UC-Irvine at halftime. Jacks have a lot to work on.

-12 on the glass at the half. Not a good trend

Prolly one of the ugliest halves of basketball I've ever seen. Trying to play so damn fast we are completely out of control and taking bad shots. That leads to our defense being out of position.

Not saying we throw in the towel but they've got a lot of work to do.

It could be a long season. With TJ coming in when he did, he never got the kind of people he really needed. It was more-or-less take what's out there, and that's what I see. Not saying these guys cant play, its just going to take some time to come together as a team.

Lots of work is needed. Turnovers abound as UCI plays defense. Hess has not dialed in shot yet and defense needs to sharpen. The big guys UCI will not allow many easy layups. We need Thiesen to stay in game.

Gentry is a TO machine...and can't score. Orris can't even hit a FT. Just as well run with King and Wallace at the point.

I don't really get why they're trying to play so fast. Lots of turnovers, quick shots, and this also leads to less rebounds. I'm not impressed so far. The staff has a lot to work on.

We apparently don't have the players or possibly the understanding to run the system that TJ wants to bring in....or at least not yet. Two games in is a little early to panic but it doesn't look promising so far. If we don't make improvements it will be interesting to see how long we try to pound that square peg into the round hole.

The Jacks lack size, so they probably have to learn to play fast. They also have to learn to make shots. The shot part should come. The speed part has a way to go.

4-26 from 3 pt land so far.

It sounds like we are all agreeing Coach Otz doesn't have the tools he needs to run the offense he wants. I agree we give it some more time before we say it's a failure, but fast-paced doesn't seem to be right for these guys. They just don't seem to be able to execute it correctly.
It also doesn't help to be playing against these Californian teams who are generally taller, faster, and more athletic than the Jacks and the teams they usually play.
