GDT: SDSU Jackrabbits vs UC Irvine Anteaters

Game 2 in the Coach Otz era finds another salty California team. The Anteaters are the preseason #2 team in the Big West. They have some size involved with 7'2" post and 6'10" forward starting the game against Utah St. which they lost at home 72-56. The starters for the Anteaters this year may have some playing experience, but they do not return lots of starting experience. Their website indicates that of the players who saw action Friday had 19 starts among them. Let's expect that we can see a Jackrabbit team find some offensive identity to score more than the 50's and defend the opposition for the win. Go Jacks!!

I watched the game Friday night - not good. After reading the comments on this fan page I wonder if I should watch the game tonight? I think I will. I'm not quite ready to give up on the season yet.

Progress. That's all I'm hoping to see tonight. A win would be a big bonus. It would be nice if things start to come together a little before the Thanksgiving games at the Pentagon.

50% chance the 6'3" senior guard Luke Nelson starts tonight. Hamstring injury kept him out of game 1 against Utah State.

Telly looks like the leader of this team. I think Daum looks uncomfortable getting double teamed.

Once Hess starts hitting some shots he could be deadly. He's been cold so far

And Gentry just had another bad turnover. But they look better than the other night. (Can't be much worse)

Gentry (and others as well) have to be more careful with their passes. UCI is very quick on defense. But the Jacks can play with these guys.

To me, it looks like the Jacks don't really know their offensive identity yet. They do set a screen or two, but there's a lot of low percentage shots so far. Hopefully they can figure it out. It will take some time
