The short guy can create the mistakes. Also, the comparison to Parks and Marshall might also include that Gentry could be another scoring threat from deep. Overall, it appears there is a fair collection of talent on this team and it is early enough for everyone to be optimistic about the coming year.
I have been getting to the games a bit earlier since it takes more time to get all the way up to my seat. I like the idea that we could gather some priority points for attendance. That would be a way for the guys who only get to a few games to gift those good seats to someone that does not normally attend or he would be pushed up.
Agree, I'm not banging on Gentry. More of a general observation, in basketball taller is usually better, all things being equal.

There are some very good NBA guards in that 5'10 - 6' range. If we were talking about a 3-4-5 guy, I would agree taller is better, but as a PG quickness and decision making are much more important IMO.

I don't know if this was already asked, but what does everyone think of the names on the back of the jerseys?

Change happens. It is not unusual for this to happen as it is common among many P5 teams. It also helps some identify players.

I bet the letters in "Tellinghuisen" are a lot smaller than the letters in "King".

Seriously though, i don't mind. I know there's a crowd out there that says "yeah but team", but meh.

I realize this is becoming more popular, especially in Power 5 conferences, but I've never been a fan of names on college jerseys. My personal opinion is they are amateur athletes and should be treated as so. We've all heard the line, "the name on the front matters more than the name on the back." While this takes a literal meaning for the Jacks, now, I believe a college athlete needs to represent their school, for the school gave them a place to further their education, continue the activity they love, and put them in a place to represent the school that mere academics can not. They represent a school, not themselves. When someone becomes a professional athlete, they've earned to have their name on their back through much hard work, and it can be a little bit about them versus the team while their a professional.

I don't care for names on the back. Mostly an aesthetics thing for me. I'm not going to get too worked up about it.

I've never understood the theory that players will suddenly start looking out for themselves over their team simply because their name gets put on the back of their jersey. To me it's simply a matter of convenience for people attending the game that don't buy a program, and especially to those watching on TV or other videos.

Same here. The debate is one for message boards and sports talk radio. Silly.

Perhaps I'm just old school in that way to think it's amateur sports, and there should be a certain level of amateurity to how things are done; names on jerseys is just one of those things. I know it will be something I get used to after a while, but for now, it's weird.

On a different note, us students have always given teams a harder time when they have names on their jerseys because we can actually call them out by name rather than by number. I wonder if the team will notice this change? (It would be funny, though, to hear opponent student sections to try and read "Tellinghuisen." It's long, a bit confusing, and the letters are small.)

I think the names on the jerseys is a good addition. It will make the team easier to follow. I could maybe side with the "amateur" idea if these kids were not being used for posters and other marketing.

You can save 5 bucks by not buying a game program. Names on Jerseys would do that.
