    Re: GDT:Jackrabbits vs. The Leathernecks

    Thanks for posting this.

    Sorry for the following rant:

I know its been covered before, but it is such a disappointment that the opponent press conference isn't available. That was some of the most enjoyable content when TV was covering SDSU, and now it doesn't seem to exist.

Oakland and IUPUI were circled on the calendar (for me) because I knew their coaches. I looked forward to Kampe's in-game antics and post-game comments almost as much as the game itself. I don't know any Summit coaches besides NDSU/USD anymore, and a big reason is because I don't see them talk after games.

We practically had women's basketball royalty in Frost Arena this year (Notre Dame coach), and from what I understand she had a really interesting presser. It is nowhere to be found.

If Duke came to Frost Arena, I would't be able to watch Coach K talk after the game! Or I would strain to hear him on periscope vertical video. Seriously?

If the school can't put them up for some reason, and our beat reporter is going to use a niche format with poor audio (no offense to Matt), could the conference put them up on their website/youtube?

I concur with you on this. Periscope audio is nonexistent. The former posts by the Argus gave us a look at the players and coaches on a regular basis. I have not seen any postgame for the road games for the Jackrabbits or their opponent. It would be great if a link was available at the very least. I had always liked the coaches like Kampe, but I also miss the interviews of Chris Paul who is still at IPFW. This is something that the Summit might provide without bunches of expense.

Email whoever is in charge for putting these up. They may not know there is demand. Gotta figure it's not much extra work to push the record button for the opposing team. The equipment is already there so it's not like they have to go above and beyond in that aspect. Also, having more content on the SDSU youtube can't be all bad.

Someone on the chat asked Zimmer if he could like TV used to. It seems like he didn't take it very well.

Is it possible to get the post game press conferences (with the opponents coach, SDSU players, and Nagy) posted to the argues leader website with video camera quality? I like the periscope and appreciate it but sometimes its hard to hear the players and coaches talking.

          Matt Zimmer
Posted to the website? No, probably not. But I'm considering ways to improve the post-game situation. The sound is an issue -- especially since Nagy is such a quiet talker. And I suck at holding the camera still. Hopefully I can come up with something.

          Matt Zimmer
I can hear them on my phone when I play it back. And FTR, I'm not a big fan of people complaining about free content that I'm not obligated to provide them....

Well then, did the chat go good after that? Free content, hells bells I pay $9.54 for an online subscription of the AL.

Zimmer has pretty thin skin but living here in Mpls, he's pretty much like most of the reporters covering college sports.

Some of the big numbers he claims on Periscope are likely similar to me. I pull up the screen on the phone and no one can hear the dialogue and we close the window. If this is his notion of a freebie, he should keep it in his pocket and do the postgame and report in the paper. He was doing some pregame info of the football games with the opponents in print and he felt that was a good thing, but the postgame info for the opposing team in basketball is not a good thing. I do pay for the Argus paper to make certain Zimmer does not make me into the "freeloader". Fortunately I have the Youtube link in my computer to get entertained with the postgame information. I would still believe it is more of the conference responsibility to link the postgame activity rather than the Argus. I missed his response on whether the chat was an official part of the job.

I agree that the conference should be making each of the member schools make available the post-game press conferences on line, especially given that most of the schools in the league get a tiny, TINY fraction of the press coverage that the Dakota schools do.

How hard can it be? Get a video camera and a stand and press record. Post the video at the bottom of the game recap. TV had no issues with it.

BTN talked to the coach following the Iowa/Nebraska game. It seems to be common for post game interviews, but...that is what the radio people do after the game as well. It is more the attitude that Zimmer brought about giving us a freebie that creates more smoke than anything. Periscope is not an effective venue in its current form and the customer is normally correct.

It appears Zimmer isn't going to do anything above the minimum. I mean he's too busy writing weiner stroking stories about his coed flag football league title that he won with a bunch of former USF and Augie athletes to fit in the time to record post game pressers.

Sometimes we think we have it all figured out and then suddenly... the realization that the learning curve has just begun. Hopefully, Zimmer can move forward with a bit more enthusiasm and bring a few more surprises. It is like tweeting(early tweet during WIU game) that he had a brew with one of the refs for the game that may not be the best information to shoot out to the social media. That is some personal info the ref and he do not need on social media. The surprises I would expect should be more good stories in the paper about teams...not tweets about him and his socialization at the pub(unless it was relevant sports info.) Maybe there is a story coming from the perspective of the referee??
