  • GDT: Minnesota Golden Gophers

Will the 17-game losing streak (to Minnesota) end tonight? The Jacks will face an uphill battle if there is any truth to the rumors that Marshall is out. It would not exactly be easy with him, assuming that the Gophers will probably be playing with something to prove after the USD loss. Several Jacks are going to have to have very solid games to pick up this road win.

It looks like the game will be on ESPN3. 7:00.

*I listed the thread title in the correct format this time (unlike UMKC) so you can't blame me if the Gophers come out angry and play their best game of the year tonight.

This is the best chance we've had to beat them if Marshall is in the lineup. That would really be a shame if he wasn't able to go. It takes me back to Naters last year and he sprained an ankle and had to miss the Gopher game.

The line on one app I have show the Gophers as 1 point favorites. So, basically on a neutral court we'd be the favorites.

Will be nearly impossible without Marshall. Brings back nightmares for me. I bought lower level tickets and booked a hotel to watch Nate and the Jacks beat the Gophers only to have him miss the game and watch the Jacks lose. Couldn't make the trip this year but planning to watch on ESPN3.

Going to be tough without Marshall.

But, this is a pretty good team. I expect them to put up a battle.

Without Marshall, it will require more scoring from Bittle and Telly. There could be Parks playing 40 minutes as well. It will definitely increase the grade of the hill without the starting point guard. The rest from Wayne St game till now must not be enough. We will definitely need Marshall for the conference.

The worst thing anyone of these players can do tonight is think they have to score more by forcing things. Missing Marshall is a big enough loss but to compilicate the matter by players forcing things.....that'll play into the hands of the gophers. What the jacks do well is move the ball and play defense. If they do that tonight, even without Marshall they have a good shot. Don't forget this is a BAD gopher team. I haven't paid attention for 17 losses but this game is more than winnable.
Nothing better than "motorboating" the Gophers!

Agree. My point, George Marshall brings a dimension that can't be duplicated by anyone else of the team. The key is going to be defensively and on the defensive board in particular. If we get our ass kicked on the boards and give them extra shots the Gophs could get comfortable.

If the Jacks shoot it like they are capable this could be a 10 point win for SDSU. This is not a good Minnesota team and one we should beat.

Before you read this, know I'm an optimistic person, and in no way a pessimist: This is not a good spot for the Jacks. If the Gophers beat USD on Saturday, we would probably beat them with Marshall on the court. Without Marshall, even that would have been iffy. Now with the Gophers losing on Saturday AND Marshall out, I just don't see it happening tonight. I know this isn't a good Gopher team, but they will be super focused and probably take this one easily.

Is Bittle playing? I read on a betting site he is questionable...

That was the first thing out of my mouth when I saw USD won...crap, that's gonna refocus U of M and they're gonna probably play out of their minds vs us...

I'll admit I'm probably---no, I am still bitter about football, and I know it's not fair to bring over the football bitterness to the basketball team, because outside of NDSU anytime and USD in the dome, and yes, Minnesota, they have generally done pretty well in their "big games", but even before Marshall going down, I was pretty much preparing for a letdown in this game...I hope I'm wrong. Will gladly eat crow if that's the case.

You're not alone in still being bitter about football....i can't shake it. Anyway, not having Marshall available is an absolute killer.

I'm more concerned with the team coming out of this game healthy than I am winning. Would it be great to see us walk off the court with the win? Of course. But this team's job is to win the conference. Win or lose, the only way this game has any effect on that is if someone gets injured.

Come out and play to the best of their ability, and then move on to the important games...the conference

Less than two hours to tip. If the Marshall deal is true it sure seems like the beat writer might have caught wind of it and put something on Twitter. Kind of a big deal.

Hope it is just an off base internet rumor.
