SDSU Jackrabbits @ UNI Panthers

It will be 5 days off from basketball games as the Jackrabbits go to Cedar Falls. It will be another road game with an AP Top 25 team. The Panthers average 48% from the field with 38% from long range. Their defense is allowing 57 points per game. If you throw out their loss to VCU and OT win over SFA, they allow about 51.5 points per game. They have 3 seniors, 1 junior, and 1 sophomore as the regular starters with 5 more players in double figure minutes. We will see how the Jackrabbit defense looks after some rest for this road game. The offensive efficiency will need to be sharp as well with UNI's emphasis on defense. It would be encouraging to have the Jackrabbits keep this game close. They have been able to pull out the close ones this year. A victory over #23 UNI on the road would definitely be a signature win for the OOC. Go Jacks!!

Have seen them twice on TV. Another well rounded, well coached team. Their designated 3-pt shooter is an assassin, but gives up some in rest of game. PG Wes Washpun (sp?) is a tremendous athlete around the rim on O or D. Blocked a seemingly easy layup by one of Iowa's bigs. Seems to have some trouble when highly pressured with ball handling, however. Maybe that was the level of competition.

Have seen them twice on TV. Another well rounded, well coached team. Their designated 3-pt shooter is an assassin, but gives up some in rest of game. PG Wes Washpun (sp?) is a tremendous athlete around the rim on O or D. Blocked a seemingly easy layup by one of Iowa's bigs. Talked to Cody on Friday. He said the guys were happy about the last few games but really tied after the long road trip. Sounded really upbeat about this game and ended the conversation with "We've got a great chance to win." I like the attitude.

This game could potentially be a trap game for UNI. Saturday/Sunday afternoon games have a higher rate for pulling off upsets (i.e. Belmont, New Mexico, Washington). I like the Jacks chances if they start the game out hot. George Marshall needs to get out of his shooting slump that he has been in the last couple of games.
