    Re: Utah State

That was a weird tourney - Jacks performance wise. Not the prettiest games, but the gut check wins I believe will help the team as the season progresses.

Need to stay aggressive. They were playing not to lose. Got the win though!

I thought the refs called a lot of ticky tack things.

That was quite a roller coaster ride. A clutch FT at the end of either time period would have been nice. In the end, it's a great road win. I expected that we'd get hammered tonight. During three stretches of the game we did!

Marshall named MVP of the tourney. Larson also on the All-tourney team.

Jacks blow a 15 point lead, but win at a tough place to play.

            Parks with 17pts, Larson 16pts 8rebs, Marshall 8pts, Bittle 5pts 12 rebs.

            USU just 1-14 from 3.

Weird tournament, but picked up 3 wins.

#14 Utah is next. Jacks (9-3) are 3-0 with GM.

Cody Larson was named to World Vision Classic all-tournament team and George Marshall was named tourney MVP.
"Macy Miller could play for anybody in the country. She's an all-league guard in the SEC. And South Dakota State, there's no doubt they could play in our league. They wouldn't finish in the bottom half either." --Jimmy Dykes

Gotta be impressed with SDSU's defense. They carried the team this weekend. Held USU to 38% and 7% from long range.

Basketball a game of runs and as someone said on TV chat tonight, this one was enough to give any fan the runs

                    Re: Utah State

Nagy just said Parks had an IV in today due to dehydration. He put up 17 points tonight on 7-11 FG.

Nagy also happy with Severyn and says he tells him to shoot the ball when he's open. Calls him a 'dang good' shooter. Says he needs to shoot more.

Nagy amazed at the minutes Marshall played this weekend. Played another 40 min's tonight.

Jacks allow a combined 11 threes all weekend.

Nagy: "Defense is important and we want to hang our hat on that. We haven't been good offensively, but our defense won all three of these games for us, no question about it. Our kids are buying into it. Our offense will get going and we'll be pretty darn good."

did not like the Jacks wwb v GB wwb thing there at the end of reg. at least it turned out better for the men. Now on to #14 Utah and get that ranked team win this year. our Christmas present from Nagy Claus.

                        Re: Utah State

I did not get to listen or watch most of game. The OT was another good performance to overcome the comeback. A win in front of 7200 is big. They overcame the extra fouls and low shooting percentage. 56% FT is scary especially when you only get half as many free throws. I see a lot of complaining about Horstman early, but he still turns in a decent game. This game breaks a long winning streak by USU for hosted tourneys. Great game by the Jacks. On to Utah!
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

One of the tv/video commentators said late in the game that he wanted his ballot back--I think he wanted to add Parks to the all-tournament team.

We got a pretty dang good team on our hands folks. Once we get rolling offensively.....look out.

Not much to add, but have a couple of little items: 1) USU is like USD...if there were 5,000 there, I would be amazed, the upper half, which is larger than the bottom half was deserted. 2) We got hammered on a number of uncalled fouls...USU was in bonus first half, we didn't get to one and one. In the second half they got to bonus, and we got to 1-1, but went a long time without getting to shoot a one and one. 3) Parks kept us in the game in the second half...deserves a lot of credit...but a host of players took turns at contributing big time. Was sure fun to be able to walk out of there after all the adversity...GO JACKS!!

I was listening in bed to the game. Dosing on and off. I missed the part about building a 15 pt lead, but woke up in the OT. This is the making of a very good team. Winning three on the road shows toughness I tend to believe.
