I think we all have that feeling like what happened. Only hear great things about him nagy said he was most improved from last year. But the year before he said that about prince and he still struggled. Not sure if its nagys way to try to motivate them or his way to get more out of um but thought we would have saw more of him this year. So who knows about next year.

      Re: Next year

when your out all summer/fall as Dolan, its hard for the coach to get you in the rotation. Similar with Horstman, he had been banged up for long periods of time, which makes it hard for you to get into the rotation. 4-5-6 years ago it wasn't the case because there was so few players, now with a full roster and capable walk-ons, its easy to get out of the rotation, add in that Nagy doesn't play a deep bench and you can see where players sometimes get out of the rotation.

As for next year, it will be hard for me to figure out, I do think Larson needs to be more productive, he had a good year, but he should dominate the Summit League, hopefully another year with him in the offense will get it figured out.

Sure we do - the top 3 bench players averaged from 12 to 17 minutes a game and Devine probably would have approached that level had he not gotten sick and lost all that weight. I'm not sure the rest of the bench (those not red-shirting) were ready to contribute meaningful minutes. The one position where it hurt not having more depth was at the point where Carlson seemed to get worn down at the end of the season.

I'm going to question your stats on bench minutes- firstly you can't count Marcus' bench minutes so that brings you down to 2. I'll accept your minutes for Horstman as they did improve later in the season but Anders had a bunch of games where he never played or only saw the floor for a couple of minutes. You can't call him a 12 minute a game guy. The other guy who no-one seems to mention is Cory Jacobsen. He got minutes early in the season and is one of the most senior members of the team as this will be his 4th season.
Also, what about Josh White? He plays the guard spot too. We have guards up the yin yang

Hopefully at least one of the three, tall incoming freshman will be able to contribute right away. The Jacks could be a pretty good team by the time conference games start.
I already mentioned DuPere, also the tall blonde kid named Jacobsen, played HS ball at Shanley, an excellent player who has never seen the floor, Cory Brown is back as is Alexander, Kadding. Of those six only four were worth their salt, Braun, Wright, BJorkland and Aaberg. Felt and the walk on are no big loss in terms of skills. I would expect the NDSU to be a challenge next year.

Parks has posted some impressive numbers at the JUCO level. Will that be a quick transfer of production at this level? He could have some adjustments to make as the competition rises. Broman has had a few growing pains to his scoring this year. Parks may have some quickness and he may find he cannot dominate as well. I have not understood if he is more of a combo guard rather than a PG. I hope he is a great addition, but I would not expect large numbers or a starter at this time. I cannot expect huge scoring from the young fellow, but I would like to see him average 5 assists/game whether it is off the bench or starting.

I'll throw in my two cents. Daum is gonna have to get in the weight room and add about 20lbs in the next four months to play. He won't be able to guard the 3 so he'll have to play minutes at the four right now. Theisen will play. 6'9" 250 right now. He'll be the best rebounder on the team from what I've seen from this team and his play in Mn. I'm guessing he'll drop down to 230 or so by this fall. Reed I'm guessing is a red shirt with the depth at 2-3. I'd actually love to see him red shirt. Love his upside. But again, needs to get in the weight room. NDSU is gonna be rebuilding and I believe we take a step above them next year.

                    My 2 cents.

PG is a concern until Marshall sees the floor, I think. Parks and Broman will have to carry the load for a while. Maybe Jacobsen can slide over and help out in case of troubles? I have high hopes for Tellinghuisen but with Marshall/Parks/Broman all with experience at the point...why use that redshirt year? But if he's good enough...t

Wings...Bittle and Horstman will be fine, in fact I think Horstman will be a good player for us. Hopefully Donlan works his way into the rotation, and Flatten or Severyn can make their way up the ladder. Maybe Parks gets minutes at the wing when Marshall returns?

Posts: Larson and then??? Devine probably is penciled in...but Daum and Doyle may have the opportunity...at least one of them is going to need to get minutes.

I could see this group as a "middle of the pack" team...somewhere between the 3 and 6 seed in the Summit next year.
NDSU will probably struggle...you just can't lose players as talented as Braun/Bjorklund/Wright and not. That said...they'll be ok. They will belong in that "middle of the pack" group along with the Jacks.
I see IPFW and Oral Roberts as the two favorites heading into next season. IPFW really showed me something at the Summit League tournament. They lost a few players...but they have several returning... including the freshman who lit us up in the Summit semis.

I think the point will be fine after Marshall becomes eligible. You would have to think that next year's recruiting class options should have at least one point guard as a priority at the top of the list. We don't want to get caught with not having at least two natural point guards on the roster at all times like we did this season.

I think PG will be fine too. Marshall already has one Big 10 season under his belt at PG, plus he has been practicing with SDSU since January. It's not like he is showing up as a freshman/transfer next fall. Parks is a much bigger question mark in my mind. I'm glad that he'll be able to play from day one.

And as far as a 2014-'15 prognostication I will take top 3. They will have the top post player in the conference and potentially the top PG in Larson and combo (Marshall, Iowa Lakes kid, one of the better shooters in Broman and Bittle etc. Can they win the Summitt? I believe they can. Not nearly as empty of a cupboard as some might believe and also looking around the conference a lot of seniors graduated. I do believe that Nebraska-Omaha is going to be interesting. White from Wichita State is eligble after sitting out and their guards are upper half of the Summitt. Should be a really fun year.

IMHO Theisen will see playing time immediately. Just saw a feature on him at an acceleration program in the Twin Cities and he is going to be a beast. Also think with Parks experience and ability he will make an immediate impact as Juco's should. Anxious to see what a redshirt year has done for Doyle, Flatten and Severyn.

I believe Marshall was hurt and required surgery earlier this semester. Maybe he is working out with the team now, but he did not get much in during the season.

As always, I am very hesitant to get really high on a player before they've touched the court in game day unis. That goes for freshman and transfers alike. I'm a little concerned about next year.

                                Re: Next year

Im a bit concerned with Larsen maybe trying to do to much. He has some skills, but is still rough around the egdes. Sometimes his turn overs were from bad decisions and getting him self in trouble. The growing pains will be there and I expect some sloppy play as basically a new cast of players is going to get a significant amount of playing time next year.

I think Horstman can be an x-factor type, if he stays out of foul trouble most games, and commits to the D i think his offense will be fine. I think his ups and atheltic ablility will shine at times, even after he has had a back injury. Bittle on D will be great and taking his open shots on offense will be fine. I am worried about the ball being in Bromans hands to much to start. I would rather see him as a USDs Casey Kasperbuer roll for next year. Probably come off the bench, get open for 3s, launch um when he has um and play as tenacious of D as he can for the few mintues he is in at a time. I dont think Bromans should start or run the point.

I think Severyn could probably fill into the Chad white role right away. if anything a more athletic maybe not as good of a 3 pt shooter.

I think the challenge will be replacing JD, his size and shooting from 3 will be missed, always a tough match up. Not sure If anyone can create that sort of mismatch in our favor this year that JD could.

If i had to guess a starting lineup.
PG - Parks and the Marshall when he is eligible.
                                SG - Bittle
                                SF - Severyl
PF - Horstman unless Doyle, Duam or Theisen are ready to jump in the starting PF spot, then horstman at SF and Sevyrn off the bench
                                C - Larsen

Broman and who knows who else would be first off the bench.
