This is getting crazy! That was a great team and I watched every game they played in Frost but to say that he may not have started on there is crazy. Tetzlaff had more points and rebounds but at the DII level and not a lot more at either. Outside of that who takes a spot from Dykstra on that team? Shultz? Who else? Tetzlaff is on a top 5 list also that has followed the Jacks over the long haul. Shultz is the only other person on that team that deserves consideration for a top 25 all-time. He was one of my favorites though.

I've been a season ticket holder for 43 years at SDSU and I was with the '85 basketball team in Springfield, including in the room with the players and coaches when hardly any one had a dry eye after the loss in the finals. And Mark Schultz makes my all-time team as well. But Jordan Dykstra would start before any of the other four on the team. And in comparing, one always should remember that we are playing UP against better talent day in and day out in D-I. I'm with YOU SuperBunny!

This is why it's very misleading to compare Jordon Dykstra to Sonny Jim Schmidt. So much as changed since the late 1940's that comparisons are meaningless. Why not say they were all good players in their era. 20 years from now, how will Jordan Dykstra be remembered? Possibly for the 1000 pt. scoring, but his character as we know him will be lost in time.

I found the first sentence very funny for some reason. Did you inadvertently spell Jordan's name wrong to coincide with your point of his accomplishments being lost to time? Amazing. I assume Sonny Jim Schmidt was a real person who played for SDSU, but he sounds like a legendary pioneer like Davey Crockett or something. Nice work, intentional or not.

Well call me 100 per cent wrong. I got Mr. Schmidt's nick name wrong. It is Sunny and not Sonny. Also if you read his obituary you will find one of his son-in-laws is the sitting governor of SD.
