Re: GDT: SDSU @ Omaha MBB

I had my reservations about Cody because of that reason and a few others I heard whispers about living in his neighborhood. I haven't heard anything of the sort lately. My reservations are due to proximity, the ass-clowns from Omaha commenting on it are a different matter. There is NO PLACE for that garbage from supposed professionals. If they aren't out of a job by Tuesday, something is wrong. I really hope Coach Nagy or AD Sell finds out because there should be hell to pay for demeaning a kid in that manner. Omaha needs to deal with this and deal with it now! NO excuse for those comments.

Such comments make for festering rivalries. Like taking the crap in the Dakota Dome dressing room. Remember it and use it to pound Omaha into the ground at next meeting.

        Pretty classless.

But I have to cut them a little slack, I've heard plenty of borderline stuff from our guys on their hot mics during stoppages or postgame (including coaches).

The UNO announcers on the feed were pretty terrible all game, I think calling them professionals is a stretch.

What's the back story on this? I don't mind having another reason to despise USD.

Announcers were Gary Sharp and Grant Nieland if anyone wanted to know. Radio broadcast locally was on KOZN 1620 "The Zone."

Our guys showed who was the better team last night. Great defense, and focus.

I keep waiting for more gems during the commercials.
These guys should know better. I was listening to JJ on the radio and he was about a mile ahead of these guys who you could not hear no matter how much volume I added. I think the Denver game was a turning point. I could not believe this was the same Omaha team that beat us in January. Were we focused on their offense? I would think so.

Someone who heard the comment should email the radio station and copy the SDSU athletic administration on the email.

I say let it go. As somebody who has subscribed to extra for at least 5 years, there have been some pretty excellent candid moments caught on a live mic (from Tyler, Sell, Nagy, and players). I don't want schools hitting the mute button during stoppages, it is awesome.

I think I agree. As aparently the only one among us who heard it, I'm not interested in getting anyone fired. It was a very low-brow moment from a marginal radio crew (however they were still WAY better than FW's radio goons). I enjoy the open mic aspect of the video feeds as well. Last night I kept it running for 30 minutes after the game mostly to hear what they had to say during the commercials.

The Summit race and upcoming tournament have definitely gotten a lot more interesting over the past couple of weeks. The amazing Dykstra scoring outburst in the final seconds at Denver may have been the event that launched this team. Whatever it was, their defensive and rebounding intensity is at a completely different level than we saw in December and most of January. A night of less than impressive outside shooting like we saw last night would have been a huge problem a few weeks ago. Last night we coasted to a road win in spite of it. If they keep that defensive and rebounding effort up this team can go far. A cold night of shooting may no longer mean a sure loss.

I'm glad my gut feeling before the game was shown to be correct! Good win fellas!

Did any of those moments talk about asking a student athlete about whether they can get some illegal drugs? Or even something remotely similar?

What they said is terribly inappropriate especially considering where it came from. It's not like it came from some drunk fan. These guys should exhibit a little more professionalism.

I'm not saying what the Omaha folks said was good or appropriate.

Just that there are some golden nuggets of information and comedy that can be heard during stoppages. Tyler is really funny during a lot of breaks. Coaches make different comments than they do on air or in front of reporters. Sometimes Sell sits in on broadcasts and him and Tyler get to chatting. I don't want to get into specifics because I don't want people getting in trouble for off the cuff statements made when not on the air. And I don't want that "service" shut off.

When the Dan Patrick Show first began streaming on ESPN.com, they had live mics during commercials and it was the best part of the show. Especially when Ron Dibble was still on with DP.
