Can we say they have not approached any of their potential? These days with shorter daylight hurt our optimism. The perfect prescription might be some home cooking and a crowd at Frost on Monday and Tuesday. If the Jackrabbits continue to look ugly at Frost, we may all want some of those antidepressants.

No, he wouldn't have been an experienced point guard. He would have been less experienced at point than Carlson.

He would have played at most, 3-5 minutes per game last year. And none of those minutes would have been the type that build experience.

Which is a big part of why he transferred, if I had to guess.

Shooting 28% on the season from 3 is not a winning recipe for any mid major.

Optimism - Having Bittle out hurts, he is one player quick enough to get into the lane and create off the dribble. I believe we will be much improved when he gets back into action.

I am not really surprised by the start this year, yet I think this will be a good team before the year is over. This is not a team that is going to create a number of turnovers for easy baskets so execution at the half-court level is going to be very important. Currently, the biggest issue is that this team is not a very good passing team. There were passes attempted last night that had no business being thrown. Our passing into the post is really bad and it hurts their opportunity to score. Getting Bittle back will help some and having Broman develop will also, but overall we don't pass the ball well. Our assist to turnover ratio indicates that. I know Coach loves his motion offense, but maybe this team needs a more directional offense at times or a few set plays to help the flow of our offense.

His brother getting a coaching job at Mankato probably had something to do with it also.

I'm more optimistic today. I was looking forward to a solid road win to jump start a slow beginning to the season and was treated to a disaster for a performance. I was too harsh while caught up in the moment. SDSU has some talented players and plenty of potential. Nagy and his staff need to find a way to realize that potential. If they cannot, it is going to be one brutally long season. I hope it starts Monday night.

Oh, brother. We've sunk to the point where Monohan not being here is the difference.

It goes to show how spoiled we have been the last three years. Nobody has any patience to let them grow. It takes time. No, they don't look good right now.

All that matters is how thing come together for the conference season and ultimately the conference tournament. Obviously, a successful non-conference schedule season would help us get a better seed if, if we win the tournament but that is it. That is the goal. I just hope we all keep the eye on the prize.

We all agree that the start has been rough, even more than expected. I believe they will turn this thing around and be a contender for the title.

I made that drive down and back when the women played at Texas Tech in the NCAA tourney. Its a long damn ways in a minivan. Shouldn't be as bad on a bus.

YES. Half the possessions look completely aimless. The action isn't with any purpose. Then the shot clock winds down (assuming the ball hasn't been thrown away) and we try to go one on one. Obviously we are not a good one on one group. So Scott, what say you ?!

Early in the game there were some signs, I thought, of an identity. You know where players had a feel for who to go to and what to do. But for the most part they got lost and bad things happened.

I have always had that feeling about motion offenses in general. Too often you end up having to rush or force something as the clock winds down. I'd like to see the Jacks use some more directional offense and even run some set plays to Larson or Dykstra. I get the same sense on out of bounds plays with Nagy. He seems not to run a set to try and get a shot instead wants the ball inbounded so they can get back into motion. Of course that is different when the shot clock is very short.

Let's hope that this team's play after the bus ride is similiar to the legendary one of last year.

mhmm. And I don't mind the motion offense at all really, sometimes the players lolly gag and this team can't do that. The only for certain thing I have is that at some point the ball has to go through the paint. Whether its someone driving or getting it into the post. More than likely its getting it to the post with these guys. But jack up alot of threes but first get the ball into paint somehow. Its like the basketball gods rules. You have to put pressure on the rim in close for the outside shots to go down. Even if you have good shooters you can't just pass around the perimeter and take shots without any effort to score in close.

Early on the ball was going through Larson and good things were happening. Then slowly but surely they got away from that. He's a descent passer out of the double teams and I know that the shots will fall if we get some kind of consistent inside presence. White and Carlson will still get their shots, they just won't have to force everything. Carlson can run the point just fine if he doesn't try to do too much.

Re: GDT: SDSU @ Texas Tech

We lost to a Big 12 team on the road. Down by 6 with 5 minutes to go. Shot about as poorly as possible from 3. This must be the worst college basketball team ever assembled in the history of college basketball(sarcasm).

Did anyone watch the San Diego(currenty 5-0) game? The game we lost 74-70 in their gym? The best player on the floor for SDSU that night was Jake Bittle. He has the ability to create his own shot and penetrate to create things for others. He also may be our best defender. SDSU is and will be a much better team when he gets back. What you will see is a lot of Jake Bittle and a lot less of the one dimensional Chad White and currently struggling Broman.

Im going to be seriously upset if Connor Devine didn't earn more minutes with his play last night. 5 blocks and 5 rebounds in 16 minutes. When guys step up and produce from the bench you need to play them and Connor has.

Larsen looks more comfortable every game. I think we are going to see more and more of the offense being ran through him the more comfortable he gets. They are going to have to figure out a way to get him the ball more down low, and I think our coaching staff will.

The fair weather fans are jumping off the bandwagon right now. I'm still sticking with my belief that this team will be good middle to late in the season. We have seen glimpses things this team can do well. They are still figuring out their identity and strengths as a team and as individuals. I'm looking forward to watching this team grow over the next couple of months.
